• Car and Driver tests Launch Control vs. Humans, Porsche Panamera turbo 2nd hardest launching car behind Buggatti Veyron

Car and Driver did a very interesting comparison recently where they compared launch control to humans. In the comparison, they listed the hardest launching production cars and it was no surprise to see the Bugatti Veyron atop the list with 1.09g's pulled at launch. What was surprising was that the Panamera Turbo was in second with 1.02g's. This put it ahead of the 997 Turbo S PDK tied for fourth with the Nissan GTR at .96. There were three Porsches in the top 10 with the Cayenne Turbo tied with the X5 and X6 M at .88g's.

What did Car and Driver find out? Well, in every instance Launch Control prevailed except in the case of the ZR-1 Corvette which coincidentally does not have a dual clutch transmission.

I'm still amazed by the Colonel Stapp's test, he must be really brave to do that.

Actually they had no better solution to slow him down. He was lucky to walk away from it.
At that time Crast Test Dummies didn't exist. They performed all tests on themselves.
