• Renntech CL65 AMG overall Mercedes 1/4 mile record actually set with nitrous despite claims otherwise?

      You all may recall that RennTech set the overall MB 1/4 mile record of 10.27@137 a couple months back. We were given a mod list by the owner SGC and Renntech of drag radials, higher stall torque converter, limited slip diff, custom exhaust, modified intercooler, carbon ceramic brakes, and race gas only tune. We couldn't understand how this car on stock turbos was trapping so much higher than other M275 V12 twin turbo cars. It would seem the answer is nitrous as a video has popped up showing the lines in the engine bay, check it out yourself.

        No, I do not believe him, sorry.

        Running those traps in positive DA never made any sense and this was mentioned. He out trapped cars with nitrous, how? Well, by running nitrous as well. It can't be done without nitrous based on EVERY slip we have seen thus far and based on that mod list that was presented.

        Sure, he has invited people which is a clever cover story. However, someone who was at the track did get a video of his car with nitrous lines in the engine bay so... the evidence is right there.

        Additionally, the only way to prove it now is to repeat the feat with someone there to actually check as that video has reduced any credibility he might have had.

        Maybe someone else with nitrous experience can chime in, what do these lines look like to you?

        Why would the lines be connected to the Fuel lines? If my memory serves me correct, meth doesnt need fuel to work. Am I missing something? Not hating on renntech or SGC but just shocked at the video showing the braided lines. Hmmm.

        I think you are correct and I'm not super familiar with the M275 V12 but that sure looks like a good spot to drill for nitrous?

        I find his traps to be questionable too.

        I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt though, for now. A friend of mine, blackbenzz, was constantly accused of running nitrous when he broke records. Which he wasn't. He too, had the nitrous lines run, but never had a bottle in the car.

        Amazing traps though. No doubt.

        BlackBenz I believe because what he was doing was based on his 60 foot and launch, abusing the torque converter essentially. His traps were not out of line, these are.

        Agree with everything here.

        I don't have access to his time slip right now, but what was is back 1/8th mph gain?

        That will tell a lot.

        29mph is a big number for positive D/A, not impossible though.

        For comparison, my 11.1x times have a 25 mph gain on the back 1/2, in negative 1500ft D/A

        I have a 600 M275 though, not a 65. Those breathe better up top.

        What was Andy's 11.0x back 1/2 gains on his SL65?

        Still, the affect of DA on a twin turbo V12 motor of the exact same design doesn't change just because you are missing a half liter of displacement.

        Stock 65 snails have slightly larger impeller wheels too.

        I understand, but that doesn't turn positive DA into negative DA.

        It's interesting, that is for sure. The trap speeds never added up for me.
