    • Next generation Porsche 911 (991) to get 7 speed manual transmission

This report has been confirmed by Car and Driver. We are all used to seeing 7 speed dual clutch and automatic transmissions, some even going up to 8, but no traditional manual transmissions on the market for sports cars have 7 forward gears. That will all change with the next generation Porsche 911. We are happy to see Porsche catering to the enthusiast and not abandoning the manual gearbox as so many others are doing. Expect to see further details when the new model is revealed in September at the Frankfurt auto show.

        He started flipping out. LOL.
He had 3 cars there in a parking lot of a gas station, Shell on Colfax. I got a "tip" and went there. I started taking some pix and the guy was like "We need to leave NOW" and they drove away. Then I took a video.

Yes. And I think the primary gearing will be 3-4-5-6 and 1-2 will be around town to save MPG.

        That's exactly what it is.

I dunno, that's a lot of clutch work. The performance gap between 6 speed manual and DCT/PDK/DSG is already pretty bad. This is going to make it worse.

That is ridiculous. It'll be like driving a truck, next thing you know, 12 gears!

Don't see why this would make it worse, it would mean the car could be geared tighter without worrying about MPG thanks to the 7th gear overdrive.

No matter what PDK will have an advantage but nobody is going to use 7th for accelerating.

Might as well make it an 8 speed....

It is coming, don't worry, decided to space out the updates a bit as I want that update to come (since it should get some traffic) after I make a few more template tweaks to PorscheBoost to make it looking close to finished.
