• Next generation Porsche 911 (991) to get 7 speed manual transmission

This report has been confirmed by Car and Driver. We are all used to seeing 7 speed dual clutch and automatic transmissions, some even going up to 8, but no traditional manual transmissions on the market for sports cars have 7 forward gears. That will all change with the next generation Porsche 911. We are happy to see Porsche catering to the enthusiast and not abandoning the manual gearbox as so many others are doing. Expect to see further details when the new model is revealed in September at the Frankfurt auto show.

I wonder what the shift pattern looks like... It's really interesting, and at least porsche are keeping MT on their mind. I am glad they are not abandoning manuals... My next will probably be a pcar so it has to be shiftable that way

Exactly, Porsche really is doing things well. They haven't abandoned NA motors, and offer a plethora of options to the enthusiast. They are truly doing things the right way and improving efficiency while offering great performance. BMW lost their way, Porsche has managed to improve while keeping traditional driver interaction.
