    • First BMW to crack 200 mph in the mile, ICS Performance Turbo E36 M Coupe runs 200.3 MPH at the Texas Mile

A major congratulations to ICS performance is in order. There was some controversy a couple weeks back regarding this M coupe putting down 784 whp on the dyno. Whether the runs were made on pump gas or not the fact is the car is incredibly fast recording a major BMW performance breakthrough. There were members asking for performance figures other than the dyno and now they have them, with the car breaking all BMW records at the Texas mile and being the first BMW to run over 200 mph in the mile. Congratulations to George and everyone at Imported Cars of Stamford.

      Some additional details:

30 mph head wind hindered many cars.

178 mph was achieved on 23 psi.

190 mph was achieved on 26 psi.

Boost or turbo changes for the 200 mph run and changes from the 784 whp have not been disclosed yet. Videos of the runs coming soon.

BMWs are not known for being very aerodynamic, this is probably why they chose a Z3.

I think they chose it simply because they had one and it has a motor that ICS has experience with.

I LOVE top speed, this is a huge accomplishment! This is a prime example of people DOING SOMETHING with their cars other than the usual dyno queens LOL.

Go ICS great work here! I am sad I missed this TX mile... Maybe I can go in October 2011. Click here to enlarge

Just to be clear, this is not top speed but trap speed over a set distance.

And the funny thing is they were accused of just being dyno queens. Well done and the congrats on the accomplishment are all well deserved.

Yes. I'm sure an e36 would do much better with the same power. It maybe time for him to take out the Killer bee

        How so ?
i think E36's drag coefficient is higher than M Coupe.

The e36 coupe is .29, and I believe the M coupe is .38 which kind of makes what George did that much more impressive. The e36 would be faster with less power.

        .38 ? it's too high !
the boxy Toyota Landcruiser's drag coefficient is 0.35 !

Awesome times and major respect for ICS. Props for flying out to Texas to prove yourselves. Dyno #'s are just #'s but this right here is no BS.

I'll be more cautious next time I see an M coupe on i95 Click here to enlarge

It's impressive. Will anyone beat this speed on y rated tires anytime soon?

Well said, I think they deserve a bit more respect than they have been getting.

I respect this. Now we need to see what it can do in the 1/4 mile. Now that I think about it. Do they time how long it takes to run the mile.

Then after that people won't be satisfied until a 60-130.

I do definitely want to see a 1/4 mile time as I would like to know what trap speed it takes to hit 200 mph in the mile.

This is a major step in the right direction and a major achievement.

I think it needs some proper tires for much faster runs. I think its a deep into the 9's car.
