• GL63 AMG is coming with next generation GL, spotted testing on the ring

      Earlier this year we reported there was a rumor going around that Mercedes was planning an AMG version of the GL. Turns out the rumors were true as the AMG version of the GL, the GL63, was spotted testing on the ring. There should not be any major surprises here, the powerplant will be the M157 twin turbo V8 we are all growing to love which produces plenty of torque which will be needed to move this behemoth. Considering the performance package version of the motor, which will be available for the GL63 as well, can move the nearly 5000 pound S-class to low 12's, this should be one quick SUV.

        this thing is HUGE, even M157 can't move it enough fast.

        I can't find the point of an AMG treatment over GL class.

        It is a little weird but it will sell likely. The ML was probably odd at first as well although it made much more sense.

        wow, this is terrible.
        But I guess if Porsche can make and sell an SUV, why not another SUV AMG modelClick here to enlarge

        Well the ML AMG was already selling pretty well.

        Although I think a GLK AMG makes more sense than a GL AMG.

        Mercedes is answering a question no one asked here whereas they will have no AMG model to compete with the X3 M and Q5RS
