All electric Porsche Boxster coming? Porsche testing Boxster E prototypes

Everyone is obsessed with electric vehicles these days and Porsche is no exception. Porsche developed three prototypes to test the feasibility of an everyday electric sportscar. Two of the prototypes are rear wheel drive while one is all wheel drive. The all wheel drive model has two electric motors that combine for 241 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. The rear wheel drive models ditch the second motor and have around half the horsepower at 121 and only 199 lb-ft of torque. It also takes over 9 seconds to get to 60 mph.
Are these really usable and sporty? Well, the batter weighs 752 pounds and the entire rear wheel drive Boxster comes in at just under 3600 pounds. The driving range is only about 100 miles. The front luggage compartment is also impacted by the electronics. We would say there is a way to go before we are all driving electric Boxsters, and that is fine with us.
