• BMW honors the 328 with an Hommage design concept

Last week we reported it was the 75 year anniversary of the BMW 328. BMW decided to honor the milestone with a modern concept based on the original 328. Obviously the modern design take has a lot of the Vision concept in it but that is fine, it looks great. Yes, that is a carbon fiber body and yes those are leather straps on the bonnet an obvious throwback to the original. Well done BMW, well done indeed.

The X's on the headlights don't make sense to me either.

Unfortunately, the press release doesn't delve into that topic.

This is so cool. I love it, well done BMW! There are more pictures and renderings and this is my favorite. I like this Hommage more than the M1 from two years ago. Click here to enlarge

I like it quite a bit; it pays tribute to the old one quite well... except for being deceased. The Xs should be replaced.

The more I look at this concept and study it the more I am trying to figure out the X's over the headlights. Why do you guys think they included them? Someone thought about it, and put them there, what do they signify?

        This is a dead car?

its not a dead car at all?? i dont understand that $#@!, i think one of their designers smoked too much plantlife then he came up with this $#@!. There is a fine line between new and fresh designs that push limit and just plain retarded, this is plain retarded...

the X on the head light is kind of traditional, in original Mille Miglia race teams used to cover the head light which gave the cars a sporty look, BMW's style was a black strip on white cover not the X but I'm sure I've seen a photo of BMW 328 on original Mile Miglia with X style.

Good stuff, that might be it. Doesn't make sense for them to do an X though?

Lots of old race cars used to have the tape on the headlights, the X is the most common one I've seen but putting it next to an original 328 without Xs on its lights just makes it more obvious that they dropped the ball on that particular part of the design.

Other than that this thing is truly awesome, I wish they would produce a small number of them it's a shame there's only one.

        Absolutely.

This is likely what would happen if they did put into production.
