We have seen the 991 turbo rendered before, by our own graphic design artist Wild-Speed. These are from Theopihilus Chin and are pretty good but not innovative at all. These renderings look way, way too much like the 997 which it seems is like what Tehophilus used for inspiration. Wild-Speed's renderings of the 991 turbo are much more progressive looking forward rather than back like these. Regardless, we expect the final design to be revealed later this year at some point. ...

Porsche is likely going to launch a Panamera plug-in hybrid in 2014. It should not surprise anyone Porsche is expanding their hybrid offerings especially after all the research they are pouring in developing the technology for use in their racecars as well as road going vehicles that benefit from the race research. Expect to see many more Porsche as well as VW Group hybrid models that go the plug-in route. "We are really convinced that the future of hybrids won't be pure hybrids, but the plug-in hybrids" stated Rudolf Krabes who is the VW groups head of electric propulsion. ...

First of all, we want to point out the disparity in the engines here. The Audi has a 5.2 liter direct injected V10 that revs to 8700 rpm and is rated at 518 horses. The GT3 RS 4.0 has a comparatively small 6 cylinder at 4.0 liters that puts out an amazing 500 horses. The Audi should win but does not even with the drag from the aerodynamic enhancements on the GT3 RS 4.0. Why? Well, the GT3 is lighter and routes its power to the rear wheels and not all four. It also puts out a lot of power to the wheels despite only 6 cylinders and 4.0 liters. Very, very impressive vehicle. ...

This is pretty impressive for a stock 991 Carrera S especially considering it was run at Palm Beach International Raceway in Florida which is not the fastest track. There is no slip which is disappointing so we can not see all the details but the 60 foot appeared to be a very nice 1.79. The car is a PDK and was launched using launch control which clearly worked quite well. At a faster track with drag radials we could see this car dip into the 11's stock very easily, impressive. ...

In case you were wondering, yes, the Porsche 917 is still coming and still undergoing development. The concept debuted in Geneva 2 years ago and immediately gained attention throughout the industry since it took the relatively boring hybrid concept and turned into something that actually made car guys, real car guys, salivate. Wired got some exclusive time with the car and below is our summary of their take on it so far. ...

The Carrera GT has been out of production for some time now but it is not exactly a common car with a huge sample of dyno's. When one pulls up to a dynojet it is sure to peak interest in what the Porsche supercar will put down. This completely stock Carrera GT (not exactly a lot of modifications available for it either) put down 548 horses to the wheels on a dynojet at the TX2K12 event. From a 5.7 liter naturally aspirated V10, that is pretty damn good. Video of the dyno run is below. ...

This is a vehicle to commemorate RUF's 35th anniversary of expertise in tuning turbocharged vehicles. It is of course based on the new 991 Porsche 911. This a turbo only vehicle with PDK and rear wheel drive. Horsepower is at a plentiful 630 and torque is at 608 pound-feet. Ruf states the top speed is at 205 miles per hour. This is basically OEM level work and can be seen as an early 991 GT2 which surely will be similar in specification. ...

Well seems they keep changing their minds about whether should or should not produce this car. In January, we reported Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller stated the roadster was delayed indefinitely. Now reports are coming out that Mueller is stating the car is back on the table and will be produced. Porsche supposedly held a focus group last month regarding the car and it swayed them toward producing it. The only thing stopping them is the worry about the brand image. We like that Porsche is being cautious and not just throwing in as many models as they can like everyone else. ...

The new Boxster certainly is impressive, inside and out. Everyone has been commenting mostly on the design but with a sub 8 minute run we can now discuss the incredible performance as well. The performance increase on the Nurburgring for the new Boxster is substantial gaining 12 seconds on the previous generation 987 Boxster despite only having 5 more horses. Incredible? Absolutely, especially considering this time is only 18 seconds off the new (and much more powerful) 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S. ...

The original RUF CTR3 is a 700 horsepower car using a 3.8 liter twin turbo flat-6. One way to look at the car is the ultimate evolution of a 911 stretching it out and making it mid-engine which is where Porsche themselves is slowly taking the 911. The new CTR3 Clubsport model raises the bar with 750 horsepower out of the 3.8 twin turbo six cylinder along with a new carbon fiber aerodynamics package. If a 911 Turbo and a Cayman made love, this would be the offspring. ...

Just how much faster is the new 991 Carrera S with PDK versus the previous generation 997 Carrera S with PDK? Well, considerably quicker and faster. The drag race video below shows a great comparison between the two cars with the White 997 taking on the Grey 991. The video is well done and clearly shows the difference but there is one major problem. No timeslips for the runs which is a huge disappointment. The runs were done at PBIR before the track was open. ...

German tuner Lumma Design does some pretty great stuff with some of it being a bit over the top. Their CLR 9 S package for the new 991 is not what we would call ostentatious and accentuates the new 911 well. The exterior pieces consist of an front add on splitter, headlight rings, three piece spoiler, and diffuser featuring the Lumma exhaust tips. The interior basically consists of aluminum pedals and two tone Alcantara. Yep, we like it but are sure it comes with too hefty of a price tag for what it is. ...

If you did not like the way the Panamera looked before you definitely are not going to like this. RUF created a stretched Panamera which definitely looks a bit awkward. Who would want this? Well, the Chinese. We are not sure why they like their cars so long but somebody else can come up with jokes about them compensating for something or other. If you want a Panamera that is about 16 inches longer than standard, prepare to pony up over a quarter million dollars. ...

It's hard to fathom an automotive tuning and racing simulation video game not having Porsche vehicles in the lineup. Well, Eletronic Arts was very butthurt over Microsoft's Take 10 and used their licensing agreement with Porsche for their Need for Speed games to cockblock Take 10 getting any Porsche's in Forza 4. Fortunately, 30 Porsche cars will be available as downloadable content on May 22 in a $19.99 pack. ...

Wild-Speed does some amazing work for us. Every rendering you have seen on the GermanBoost network has been from him (such as the absolutely awesome Cayman renderings he did for us that basically were featured everywhere). Here he did a couple renderings of the upcoming 911 Turbo Cab and the result is of the typical high quality we have come to expect from him. There is a lot of speculation on the next generation Turbo but until we have official details enjoy these pictures. ...
