CAR reports that a long wheelbase version of the Panamera is coming. The wheelbase will be extended by 150 millimeters. Demand for long wheelbase models is apparently very high in China which seems to be the driving force for this Panamera model. It seems kind of weird to us though as the Panamera is supposed to be a sporty sedan and already is quite heavy to begin with. Regardless, the longer wheelbase model is coming as is a face-lift.

Most of you had seen that we were working hard on PorscheBoost. Well, PorscheBoost is now officially launched. PorscheBoost will be bringing you Porsche performance news the same way it does on AudiBoost, BenzBoost, and BimmerBoost. This means a Porsche Blog, Porsche Forums, performance, tuning, motorsport, and modification news all concerning Porsche. With 6speedonline and Rennlist being swallowed up by Internet Brands there simply is no good Porsche forum that is not under the control of a large company which means it was time for some competition and an alternative. This marks the 4th site in the Boost Network and you can expect VWBoost.com next which will complete our focus on German Performance Automobile Forums. Enjoy!

Yes, a new Porsche 911 model is coming, the 991. Everyone has had that hammered into their heads by now. The car will be revealed in Frankfurt (PorscheBoost will be there!) fully but in the mean time Car and Driver got a hold of these great spy pics. The car is still a bit disguised but you can see more details here. Doesn't really seem all that different, does it? The main difference seems to be the roofline and the rear lights.

The Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0 is ridiculously awesome. The Autobahn is ridiculously awesome. Seems these two things almost belong together. This is a cool little video of a GT3 RS 4.0 being topped out on the Autobahn and hitting 320 kilometers per hour (top speed is quoted as 310) or 198.8 miles per hour. The Porsche speedo may be a tad optimistic but not bad for a stock car right? Lucky Germans with Autbahn and no speed limits.

New models of bicycles that is, not cars. The "RS" stands for racing which we take it the bike will be good for. Especially considering that the frame will be a carbon fiber monocoque. The brakes are also hydraulic discs, very nice. The bike S is basically the same thing except the frame is aluminum instead of carbon fiber. It also has a Shimano shifting system with less gears. The bikes will be on sale in September for what we guess will be a ton of money.

The Panamera is a controversial car. The styling seems to be hate or it love it. What is hard to deny though is that this is a hell of a performance sedan. This new official video from Porsche makes the new Panamera Turbo S hard not to like. A quick refresher, the Turbo S has a 50 horsepower bump to 560 thanks to new tuning and larger turbos. The only downside? The $174k sticker price which is much higher than the already stupid expensive $136,000 Panamera Turbo.

Call it whatever you want, but Porsche Design has created one nice smoking apparatus. Porsche Design does a lot of varied things from luggage, to watches, to shoes, to clothing; quite a diverse lineup. We did not realize how diverse until they released this pipe. The device is two feet tall and uses aluminum and tecflex which is a long flexible material (plastic). Unfortunately, this is only available at the Porsche Design store in London at first but will spread to other stores later. Somebody at Porsche had to be smoking something when they came up with this. ...Published on 07-21-2011 03:44 AM
We know Protomotive does some great work modifying 911 turbos. We saw one absolutely destroy a Switzer R911 not too long ago. Well, these dyno sheets should show you why some of the Protomotive cars are so strong. These sheets were sent to us from overseas and we agreed to black out the name on the sheets to protect the owners privacy. The car is a 3.8 liter 997 Turbo that was run by Todd K on the dyno in 5th gear with the torque slightly lowered since 4th gear was exceeding the dyno torque limiter. The pump gas dyno is at 1.1-1.2 bar putting down 748 at the wheels and the very impressive race gas pull shows 1132 AWHP at 2.0 bar which is not even max boost. This is a stupid amount of power, VERY impressive. ...Published on 07-19-2011 02:41 PM
This is a new video from Porsche showing the 991 undergoing hot weather testing in South Africa. There are a few shots of the new 991 turbo included as well. By now, everyone know the car will have a 7 speed manual, be lighter, and offer up to 15% fuel economy savings while being more powerful. Ancitipation for this car is definitely growing and Porsche is doing a good job building up the suspense for the official reveal. Check out the video an don't be surprised when it makes you feel like you want one. ...Published on 07-18-2011 02:42 AM
The Cayman R in stock form is fairly potent putting out 330 horsepower from a 3.4 liter motor with 12.5:1 compression. That is just under 100 horsepower per liter from a fairly small and high strung naturally aspirated motor. Squeezing out more power is not easy but EVOMS was able to get gains of 16 horsepower and 14 pound-feet of torque at peak. Through the curve, they were able to pick up 20 horsepower in the mid range. ...Published on 07-17-2011 03:22 AM
The Russians at dragtimes.info are providing us with a lot of great race videos. This video has a lot of runs so if you want to see a bunch of different GTR and 911 comparisons this is it. It tuned and stock GTR's taking on the 997 GT2 as well as tuned 997 Turbos. There is also some Porsche on Porsche action. Kick back and enjoy the races, the editing is done well enough to let you know what is what. ...Published on 07-16-2011 03:41 AM
Yet another great mile drag race video from the Russians over at dragtimes.info. This time two Switzer cars square off, a 997.1 Turbo with the R800 package and a Nissan GT-R with the R850 package. The Switzer R850 GTR package is $35990 and good for 191 in the mile according to Switzer. The R800 997.1 turbo package is said to be good for 700 whp and it retails for $26990. Surprising to see the Porsche take it although it is lighter. If it was a PDK Turbo, would have been a larger gap. ...Published on 07-15-2011 03:51 AM
You should know by now Porsche is working on a Cajun entry level SUV. It is going to be available in 3-door form and we think a 5-door should be only natural as well. It will likely take after the Land Rover Evoque in that sense. Autocar claims these images were leaked from sources inside Porsche. The SUV will be based on the Q5 platform and should appear in about 2 years. Take a look and see what you think of the styling. ...Published on 07-14-2011 03:41 AM
Cayenne sales increased 37% during the first 6 months of this year. Suffice it to say, the new Cayenne is a huge hit to the point Porsche can not meet demand. The factory will be re-tooled a bit and production will increase by up to 20% in an attempt to try to meet demand. Delivery times have stretched to over 1 year in certain markets. The Porsche chief of sales Bernhard Maier stated, "We're now looking into ways we can expand production capacity to be able to serve our customers more quickly." ...Published on 07-13-2011 03:41 AM
I think we all knew a front engine GT car was inevitable. Reports are circling the web that Porsche is preparing for the 928. A modified Panamera platform would underpin the car which would likely share all drivetrain components with the Panamera which already shares its engines with the Cayenne. The car won't show up until the next generation Panamera does which likely means 2015 at the very earliest. ...Published on 07-12-2011 03:58 AM
Here is another mile race from our friends in Russia at dragtimes.info. This race is a very interesting race to see as they are both very fast cars with dual clutch transmissions but it also covers a long of enough distance to mitigate the Porsche AWD advantage at launch. The race plays out as expected, the 997 Turbo gets the jump and takes the 1/4 mile but the Italia start to make up ground and at the mile marker has the higher trap speed but can't get there before the Porsche. ...Published on 07-11-2011 01:30 AM
The Cayman R is a great little sports car. Porsche essentially took the Cayman S and removed a bit of weight, upped the power, and lowered the ride height. They didn't just take out a tiny bit of weight, but 121 pounds vs. the Cayman S. Horsepower only grew by 10 but that is likely to keep it from destroying the standard 911 which with a PDK transmission, 330 horsepower, and only 3000 pounds it likely already does. Check out the video review. ...Published on 07-09-2011 11:02 PM
This is a seriously fast car for stock. Yes, we know there is much more to it than the straightline numbers but they have to be mentioned considering they are so eye opening. With drag rubber, this is a 10 second car stock. Compared to the PDK numbers for the 997 Turbo S the GT2 RS they hit the GT2 RS is 3 mph faster through the 1/4. The GT2 also gets to 150 1 second faster, half a second slower to 60 though due to no AWD. With a PDK trans who knows how insanely fast this thing would be, as if it isn't already. ...Published on 07-09-2011 03:54 AM
First of all, LEGO's are awesome. Secondly, Porsche's are awesome. Put them together and it is a recipe for massive win. This is just an absolutely ridiculous model car. It has 8 motors, 3 remote controllers, 3 IR receivers, 3 pairs of working lights, and about 7 yards of wiring. It even has working all wheel drive thanks to three differentials and working locking doors. The hood even pops up from the interior and the roof folds. To top it all off, it has a working PDK transmission. Someone must have not gone outside for a very long time. ...Published on 07-08-2011 03:55 AM
When the Porsche 991 was first reported as coming with a 7-speed manual many people wondered how the layout would look exaclty. Well, supposedly AutoBild has answered that question. Now this picture looks official but it isn't, it is a photoshop. Autobild assures everyone it is based on the real thing so I guess we have to take their word for it as it is doubtful they would risk their credibility over a guess. ...
