The vehicle here is a Porsche Panamera Turbo tuned by GIAC on 91 octane pump gas. The car is also outfitted with the Vorsteiner V-PT aerodynamic package. The tuning gains with software only are very impressive on a Mustang dyno. The baseline was 413 horsepower at all four wheels and tuned the number is 471 at all four wheels. That is a 58 wheel horsepower gain along with 51 pound feet of torque, graph and video below. ...

Body work for 987 Boxster owners is going to become more and more popular to keep the car looking fresh with the next gen 981 now coming out. If you want an aggressive new look, 911 Design has you covered. They are based out of California and this widebody kit definitely makes the normally somewhat timid Boxster look meaner. Forgestar 18 inch concave wheels complete the look along with a carbon hood designed to tie together with the black rims. A very nice effort. ...

Now we hope the real thing changes significantly once it reaches production. The test mule was spotted and photographed as you see here. The Macan looks like a Cayenne was squished in these photos. The front and rear are very similar although the rear lights on the Macan appear to be much larger. The side profile after the A-pillar shows a large design change giving the vehicle somewhat of a BMW X6 side profile. ...

The 997 GT2 is a very fast car, we all know that. With 530 horsepower from its twin turbo 3.6 liter flat six and a curb weight in the 31XX range it seriously moves. The driver of this particular GT2 decides to max it out and runs it up to 343 kilometers per hour which translates to 213 miles per hour. Serious, serious speed. We do not believe this car is stock however as the Porsche quoted figure for the top speed is 204 miles per hour in addition to the video showing the driver going over the factory redline of 6750 RPM. ...

As part of Fabspeed's exhaust development for the new 991 Carrera S, they get a baseline on their dynojet dyno. This is a brand new 991 Carrera S PDK with only 500 miles run on 93 octane. The vehicle is rated at 400 horsepower at the crank so this is a very nice result even with the higher drivetrain loss of a dual clutch transmission. To put it perspective, this is ~15+ wheel horsepower more than the 4.0 liter S65 V8 out of the E92 M3 will put out which is rated at 414 horsepower. Very impressive for a smaller motor (3.8 liter flat-6) with two less cylinders to be putting down this kind of power to the wheels in comparison especially when rated less at the crank. ...

We all know the PDK makes the Carrera S into a very fast vehicle. Just take a look at this direct comparison between the manual and the PDK where the dual clutch trans provides over half a second in acceleration through the 1/4 mile. We have two sets of test numbers here from European magazines both of whom hit 11's through 400 meters (just over 7 feet short of a 1/4 mile) and both of whom trapped 118 MPH. ...

This is a cool comparison done a little while ago by Road and Track although the video was just recently uploaded. As far as GT Class race cars are concerned the company that offers the closest experience to its race car is arguably Porsche. The GT3 uses a similar motor to the race car and does not give up too much power or weight. The GT3 is about 300 pounds more than the race car and has 25 less horses with its 3.8 liter. If the GT3 RS 4.0 was used the advantage in power would actually be in the street cars favor by about 50 horses. ...

These include a new air suspension that sits 20mm lower standard, 20 inch wheels standard, upgraded brakes, 20 more horsepower (420 total), and a shorter final drive. Porsche added the Cup Aerokit option to the 991 and this new package is available for $6000. That is certainly not cheap but the Cup Aerokit does look great with its new front as well as rear spoiler. For just a bumper and a spoiler though we can not help but feel Porsche is taking serious advantage of customers here but this is nothing new with Porsche option pricing. For those who want a more aggressive look for far less money, Vorsteiner has you covered. ...

This is a natural comparison as Nissan made it known when they were first testing the GT-R that the 911 Turbo was their target. Both cars have all wheel drive, both cars have twin turbo 6 cylinder motors, and both have dual clutch transmissions. The GTR has received steady upgrades with the 2013 version sporting 545 horses. The 997 Turbo has not stated stagnant receiving a PDK transmission and the Turbo S gets a horsepower bump to 530. So which is the best? ...

Those of you with 997.2 911's have a new filter option courtesy of AWE-Tuning. Their S-Flo filters are a popular upgrade and for good reason due to their flow characteristics over the stock filters. The increase in flow over the stock filters is 27% which results in claimed gains of 14 horsepower and 13 pound-feet of torque. These are not yet available to order but are being wrapped up. This is a simple drop in replacement, we'll update you when these are available for order. ...

Tensions between Iran and the USA are high. What does this have to do with a German automotive company? Well, the group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) announced that Porsche is no longer doing business in Iran and has no intention to in the near future. The idea is that companies will put pressure on Iran to abandon their nuclear ambitions. UANI essentially is attempting to force businesses to choose between doing business with Iran or with the United States. Not surprisingly, Porsche sided with the American consumer. ...

Yes, the Porsche Macan is still on track. For those scratching their heads at the name Porsche unveiled the official name for what was rumored to be the Cajun would be Macan. So, why a twin turbo V6? Porsche can not give the Macan the same turbo engine as the Cayenne as it would flat out stomp its big brother in performance. To keep Cayenne Turbo owner's egos in check Porsche is rumored to be developing a 3.0 liter turbo version of their Panamera 3.6 liter V6 powerplant. ...

TopCar tends to do things a bit overboard and this is no exception. Hey, go big or go home right? The Panamera Stingray GTR exterior program retails for a whopping 45,000 Euros and this does not include all the various options one can get for the interior as well. That money does get you high quality materials as the body pieces are made out of kevlar and carbon fiber. The pieces include widened fenders, a front bumper with huge openings, rear bumper, diffuser, trunk spoiler, side skirts, hood, and mirror coverings. ...

Many of you have heard of the Nardo Ring which is basically just a big circle that cars do high speed testing on in Italy. The 7.8 mile long and 4 lane wide track can be seen from space. The banked oval allows high speed runs in excess of 200 miles per hour. Automakers have been renting the track from Protipo SpA (the previous owner) for years but now they will have to speak directly to Porsche to get time on the track. Full press release below. ...

We figured a Cayenne GTS would come with the 958 generation. They did it with the previous generation and with the launch of a Panamera GTS it only seemed natural the Cayenne would get the same treatment. The leak comes courtesy of Porsche themselves through their customer magazine, Christophorus. The pictures here are screenshots from the downloadable version of the magazine although it seems they were put up hastily as the displacement listed on the specs of the V6 model put up next to the GTS to compare is listed incorrectly. As far as the specs of the GTS are concerned, expect it to mirror the Panamera GTS with the V8 receiving tweaks but it also appears to be getting a shorter final drive. More to come soon as it is officially unveiled. ...

Now, the NSX here clearly has a lot of power. It is a twin turbo car with a claimed 700 horsepower. The Porsche 997.2 Turbo S is bone stock. The NSX is clearly hard to launch as in the first race the car goes sideways with the driver almost losing it. In the second race the NSX driver appears asleep at the line with a very poor reaction time but his elapsed time just bests the 911 Turbo. The NSX is the faster car with a 181.2 MPH trap speed to the 177.8 of the 911 turbo. All the 911 Turbo needs is a tune to surpass the NSX though making the NSX barely edging a stock 997.2 Turbo S not all that impressive especially for the horsepower claimed. ...

Introducing the Speedart SP91-R 425 package for the new Porsche 991. It includes wheels, an aero package, exhaust, and ECU tune. The aero package consists of a front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, and diffuser. Performance upgrades include an exhaust and ECU tune. The tune boosts power for the 991 Carrera S by 25 horses hence the name of the package being 425. As usual, no dyno graph or performance numbers are provided to support the gains and this is why we do not like European tuners who live more off their name than the results of their tuning package. ...

All good things must eventually come to an end. PorscheBoost salutes the life of Ferdinand Alexander Porsche who passed away today in Austria at the age of 76. Engineering was in his blood as his grandfather, who some of you may know as Ferdinand Porsche senior, created the Volkswagen Beetle. His father, Ferry Porsche, founded the sportscar company using his last name that we all know today. Not a bad automotive lineage to say the least. ...

Here is our take on the upcoming 2014 991 GT3. From what we know so far it looks like the PDK transmission is going to win out over the manual. The engine will likely be a 3.8 or 4.0 liter although most reports seem to be leaning toward 3.8 which means a 4.0 would likely come in an RS version. Expect no less than 470 horsepower for the new GT3. Thanks to our graphic design artist Wild-Speed who did his usual amazing work with the renderings, check them out below. ...
