• New BMW N54 and 335 turbo / boost only 1/4 mile record - 11.1@127 with Rob Beck upgraded turbos

Congratulations to BimmerBoost member LostMarine! This is breaking news from the private track rental today at the ATCO drag strip in New Jersey. This run was done at 19 psi on the upgraded Rob Beck turbos. Car was launched in second gear on drag radials. Car also has meth and upgraded axles which it clearly needs now with all this power. Check out the timeslip below, more details are coming.

Maybe when my bank account comes back to life so I can afford to break stuff.
HPF has already been back to a local track with a 76mm turbo on and only went 11.0@139 or was it 11.1@139 it was one of those...

Weak subframe, hard to launch, no easy to launch turbo automatics, no DCT's, and just overall a rear end / chassis that does not do as well on the strip.

I can understand the difficulties of launching an SMGII without breaking anything at that power level, but I've seen a few YouTube videos of HPF cars with the manual tranny as well. The 600+ WHP guys with the manual tranny should be hitting 10's like it's their job, short of mechanical failures. My thinking is that they probably have enough money to beef up the rear if they can afford to drop 15k on a turbo kit. I'm assuming most aren't interested in 1/4 mile racing for whatever reason, though.

More like dropping 20+k. Those HPF turbo kits are extremely expensive for the age of the platform. Just way too expensive man. You are looking at 30k+ for a Stg 3 and thats probably not including new parts that are gonna have to be replaced because they are worn and the labor. Ouch.....that market seriously needs another company making turbo kits to bring down the price a little.

Supply and demand... The HPF shop is full of E46 M3s have a turbo kit installed. It's only too expensive if no one buys it.

The question mark on the 6 speed manual guys is a good point.

Read part of it. Will need a bowl of popcorn for the rest! I will say when you supercharge high compression motors they tend to blow ring lands sooner or later. I'd strongly suggest a more effective methanol safety system regardless of the hardware used. Something that can cut a bunch of timing instantly would be ideal. But opening a vacuum valve to the BOV reference allowing pressure to blow it open would also work and be better than nothing.

I think no matter what you suggest it won't change someone's character.

When is building anything for the upper triple digit rear wheel hp range cheap? It has not even been determined the N54 is capable of that kind of power and the block is open deck isn't it? So, costs on it to try to keep up will grow exponentially.
        Are you building a low-comp S65?

Rumors I believe I've read here or elsewhere stated it was rather, um, pricey (like $15k+) to do a bottom end on the S65 because of the pistons/rings/skill required to match some crazy cylinder wall finish BMW used in it.

It is true about the cylinder wall lining with the pistons. It is also true you are looking at $15k plus for the motor build.

Yes, I am building a low compression S65. Motor is built already actually... just need the car back from SSP to install it and do the blower on top.
