      AMG was not always a part of Mercedes-Benz. It was originally an independent tuning house founded by former MB engineers but in 1990 AMG would officially become a part of Mercedes-Benz. The first car was the C36 AMG and you all know the story from there. AMG was really a response from Mercedes to BMW's M as they wanted an internal dedicated performance division as well with a name that would become symbolic with high performance models.

        Nice video and history lesson. I didn't care much for benz before, but lately I've been getting a lot more into them, specially the AMG division. They are coming up with a lot of exciting vehicles. I love the fact that they seem to not give a $#@! about efficiency. Instead they keep making their cars more brutal with big and loud V-8s Click here to enlarge which is fine by me Click here to enlarge, unlike ///M.

        It's cool that they stick an AMG motor in everything and don't really care all too much about hierarchy. They are starting to pay attention to efficiency as well, just not neutering things like BMW.

        That is a nice 6 minute history of AMG. I found it informative and interesting to learn a little more about AMG.
