We all know LeMans is coming up in around 6 weeks and that this is the premier event for the Audi brand. Not hard to see how much emphasis they put on it with their dominance of the race in the past decade. Well, changing regulations have forced Audi to change their motor. The LeMans race car no longer has a twin turbo diesel V10 but instead now will have a single turbo 3.7 liter V6. The regulation changes are designed to prevent the diesels from having such a large advantage. Why? Fuel efficiency is a huge part of the 24 hour race. This 3.7 liter motor has put up a strong showing so far with a claimed output of around 540 horsepower which powered the R18 to the
two fastest laptimes in testing.
