• Auto Motor Und Sport gets faster laptime for 1M coupe around Hockenheim than E92 DCT M3

      So, we have some differing results. A couple days ago we reported the DCT and manual M3 was found to be quicker around the Contidrom circuit by Auto Bild. Auto Motor Und Sport now reports that around Hockenheim they achieved a quicker time in the 1M Coupe vs. the M3. Interesting? Yes, but they were not tested on the same day which can easily sway results that are as close as differing by 1/10. Longer courses should favor the M3, tighter the 1M. Interesting indeed, laptimes by Auto Motor Und Sport around Hockenheim for several cars listed below.

      Hockenheim:

      Cayman R PDK: 1:12.4
      E46 M3 CSL: 1:13.5
      Cayman S PDK: 1:13.9
      1M: 1:14.1
      DCT M3: 1:14.2
      Cayman S: 1:14.3
      TT-RS: 1:15.0
      RS5: 1:15.3

        What's funny too is in that g37 vs 1M vs TTRS magazine The TTRS beat the 1M around the track by a good amount, here it's the opposite

        True but being a euro mag I would guess Audi sent the Dct version for best times

        this track's corners are much sharper than C&D test track, the huge understeer in most Audi cars turn section #2,6,14 into a real problem for driver.
        Also TT-RS's great grip shines in short performance lines, which you can't find in this track.

        Who cares? This car is set up perfect for a Daily Driver and will be a blast to drive and mod!


        Some people get carried away over a few tenths of a second.....

        Remember, these are people driving, not robots.

        I will give you all a VERY critical review when I get mine. I Autocross a LOT! I know I'm going to be pissed at the engine since it's just a reflash with a different flywheel and exhaust.... but hey! That's what fueling upgrades and big Borg Warner turbos are for! ;-)

        I'm waiting for the ring times. This course is too short to tell anything with cars driven on different days and also there are conflicting results already.
