      Well, we knew sooner or later the E-class would get the new twin turbo M157 V8 motor. Seems Mercedes went with sooner as in the next few months the E63 will dropping the M156 naturally aspirated V8 for the twin turbo motor. The performance package will be available for the E63 as well boosting the turbo motor from 518 horsepower to around 550.

        i really want to see how the v8 TT will battle. bmw or mercedes.

        No, but some of the internals are forged I believe already.

        The days of large displacement NA engines are over. Smaller turbo, twin turbo and in some cases superchargers here and also in the very near future for akl oot of our favorite cars. The future and pending CAFE is forcing car companies to this. The E63 and M5 will be great to watch. Stocking up on Orville Redenbacher popcorn now to watch the upcoming battles!!!Click here to enlarge

        just did a AMG drive day at phillip island race track in australia , got to drive cls 63 twin turbo s63 twin turbo and cl 63 twin turbo c63 e63 c63 wagon round the track , awsome engine with plenty of torque but the best car in my opinion was still the c63 best sound and best performance , the amgs including the c63s were the performance pack 420 kw twin turbos and 358 kw c63s . THe c63 is also the best drift carClick here to enlarge

        It's not all bad. I don't like that they have given up but there is still Lambo, Porsche, and Ferrari. Not to mention the Americans.

        Ferrari is thinking about FI as Ferrari F70 is going to be TT V8 , Porsche's top end cars are all FI , Just Lamborghini remains.

        Porsche still does NA motors. Ferrari probably will go to a TT but for now has top end NA motors. Lamborghini still has NA as do the Americans. So, I remain at least hopeful that NA motor does not disappear.

        At least the M157 TTV8 still has that muscle car sound. The X5M/X6M (next M5) sounds like a vacuum cleaner and it farts on gear changes.

        It is true the the N63/S63 motor isn't exactly the best sounding motor BMW has produced.
