• DCT Build Part IX - SSP billet DCT fluid/oil pan - major part of cooling system upgrade

As promised in the previous update on the DCT build, we are bringing you details on the cooling system. What you see here is the SSP billet pan and this has been the major hold-up in the completion of the cooling system having undergone multiple designs. What this pan offers is an additional 2 liters of fluid capacity, cooling fins to dissipate heat, additional cooling through an external source, and better access for fluid changes.

With more material on the bottom as well as cooling fins this will act as a giant heat sink of sorts similar to the cooling system upgrades SSP offers for the GTR. One of the main obstacles for the DCT is heat build up and the idea is to get as much fluid out as quickly as possible. Even if the hardware is upgraded if you can not cool it is just a waste as it will be burned up just as easily as the stock hardware.

The pan will be able to connect to an external upgraded cooling source where the additional fluid can be pumped to. It will also offer easier access to change the DCT fluid when necessary. This billet pan forms the major portion of the cooling system upgrade which will retail for somewhere in between $2300-$3000 and will be compatible with all current BMW DCT transmission.

I'm not sure if you have mentioned this or not sticky, but what is the rev limit going to be on your build?

Almost -- It is a closed deck, just held back by that aluminum construction. And that whole V8 vs. I6 thing too

Did you call? Any updates? It's hard to understand how this car is still down. Unless they are trying to make a black hole with the engine. I just dont get it....

I just called my guy in Vegas, they are posting odds on whether or not your car will be done in the next two weeks. I am going to go with NO.

Time, Time and More Time Continuum would be more accurate for this build.
