• DCT Build Part IX - SSP billet DCT fluid/oil pan - major part of cooling system upgrade

As promised in the previous update on the DCT build, we are bringing you details on the cooling system. What you see here is the SSP billet pan and this has been the major hold-up in the completion of the cooling system having undergone multiple designs. What this pan offers is an additional 2 liters of fluid capacity, cooling fins to dissipate heat, additional cooling through an external source, and better access for fluid changes.

With more material on the bottom as well as cooling fins this will act as a giant heat sink of sorts similar to the cooling system upgrades SSP offers for the GTR. One of the main obstacles for the DCT is heat build up and the idea is to get as much fluid out as quickly as possible. Even if the hardware is upgraded if you can not cool it is just a waste as it will be burned up just as easily as the stock hardware.

The pan will be able to connect to an external upgraded cooling source where the additional fluid can be pumped to. It will also offer easier access to change the DCT fluid when necessary. This billet pan forms the major portion of the cooling system upgrade which will retail for somewhere in between $2300-$3000 and will be compatible with all current BMW DCT transmission.

        Heh, cute.

Retards over there, guy saying he hasn't "heard" of anyone putting out more power when we all know a YSI blown M3 crushed those numbers a long time ago and another guy saying someone should build a DCT. I just can't stand reading that forum.

relax man you are just an easy target to piss off lol. I like your project so calm down. Mostly interested in your DCT work which I admire. You're inability to differentiate between sarcasm and reality amazes me. So to make it crystal, i'm teasing you 90% of the time.

I have a pretty good ability at differentiating sarcasm considering how often I use it. I read a lot of posts and don't particularly pay attention to your specific tones. Regardless, I don't find a comparison to unfor funny.

I really don't even think one is needed. I've seen m3's at Big willow all the time and they hit massive G's on turns that stick for a while. Some turns are about 8 seconds long and they haven't had any oil starvation/pumping problems. The only problem i've seen on ALL of them, yes ALL. Power steering fluid loves to overheat and just leaks from the cap, gotta have a towel around it and ziptied. I think you're cool to just leave that as is. Just get the damn car already Joe!
