    • Official F10 M5 Concept Video from BMW

With the first round of pics already circulating the web BMW has now released their official video for the M5 concept. As expected, a well edited short teaser piece. We just can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed in the design of the car. It is so restrained and predictable it hinges on boring. Check out the video and let us know what you think.

        Something odd about the rear.

Kinda looks like the diffuser isn't finished, it looks too plain imo. Maybe BMW just wants us to buy an aftermarket one in its place...

So this pretty much confirms the next M3 will be a turbo 6-cylinder. Yes, I know this has been the speculation for a while.

BMW would never step on the toes of the M5 and put a turbo V8 in the M3 also.

I guess they will have to do some major weight reduction in the next gen M3, to set it apart from its competition.

Seems so, without a turbo V8 it is going to be outgunned.

2JZ swap. Then consult this guy about overnighting some parts from Japan:

So I guess this motor is a departure from the X6/5 M engine... High revving is the word i have been hearing. If that is the case, then maybe there will be more to this engine than meets the eye. I actually would feel bad for those who bought the SUV models as they now sport a different, possibly inferior engine. The engine already has 3 variants, that have physical differences. I wonder how much is shared between all of the TTV8s from BMW.

And if the new M3 engine is derived from this TTv8... well I think it's in good hands. Hopefully the M5 gets 600Hp and that way, the M3 will be having at least a 480hp high-revving TTV6. That would be a beautiful engine! Think about it; 3000lbs, TT V6, 3.3L producing 480HP? couple that with a DCT and that would be boss Click here to enlarge

I have regained some faith in BMW assumming the M5 has a High revving V8TT.

It won't be high revving, it will be a down low motor just like the X5 M and X6 M.

They may need to swap in a m50 based motor to surpass the others.

I hate.speculating, but just out of curiosity hoe can u say that if the m3 has a v6tt it will be outgunned? Yes merc always has more power, but why cant a 6tt be powerful? I mean porsche tt boxer 6 tt and nissan gtr v6tt. Im assuming u think there is something about a bmw v6tt that cant be.strong?

In order to compete with a V8TT that is much larger displacement it will need much more boost. That will lead to a peaky/laggy motor. The V8TT will have more room to grow and won't have to be in such a high state of tune.

So, in stock form, sure, it can compete but will be at a disadvantage to begin with.

I think we're entering the realm of the relatively unknown with BMW going F/I, but with BMW's engine-making track record, I have no reason to believe they'll fall flat.

Looking forward to seeing what these cars are all about. I don't think they'll fall behind.
