HPF is losing focus. I'm struggling to understand the type of market they are persuing with this offering as it doesn't really help the DIY turbo kit builder at all.

Well, it kind of gives them an option of building their own package. They get the turbo hardware and such and can choose their supplement parts as well as tuning options.

        It is just another option.

kind of, but really...no. Providing you have fabrication skills/resources, all that would really help is an intake and exhaust manifold (or even just the head flanges), and an ENGINE MANAGEMENT platform.

this offering was not well thought out.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think being able to buy the parts that are difficult to make is a plus. But then again, can't you just buy them all separately? Then on the other hand, maybe it would be better to just buy the kit? Who knows...

I think RMS should make some parts like this, but better. RMS has always made great Hardware.

If I was HPF and looking to get into the DIY market I would offer plug and play tuning hardware with no tune, with the option of in house tuning.

the only way that this kit would be worth the price if it included the intake manifold!

If the mark-up is as large as people are making it to be why would anyone order this?

I think they should add the ECU, then add the intake manifold and piping. They should also add the intercooler.. Then they should call it something like a Stage 1 HPF Kit and sell it for like $13,500. That to me makes the most sense.

        That's subjective don't you think?

I think those of us with experience realize that by having the ProEFI come into the market that it has truly "open sourced" turbo charging an M3. The only complicated thing to fabricate for a turbo are the intake and exhaust manifold. Everything else is basically just piping with a large supported after market.

I think there will be a demographic that would be interested in this package. Probably someone who doesn't really want to mess with custom fabrication for a down pipe etc..

The value of something for one person may not be the same for another. I would imagine a hard core DIY'er would only be interested in the intake and manifold. As far as I can tell both are competitively priced. So this "package" is for that person who doesn't mind spending a little extra to be lazy.

exactly my point all i want is the intake manifold and the steed speed exhaust manifold. I also would buy the stage 4 intercooler aswell

Or some one could buy an air to liquid charge cooler manifold.

You could probably adapt the one VF uses. It worked pretty well on mine.
