• Steed Speed response to HPF about their S54 turbo manifold along with the accusations of it leaking

The new cast S54 turbo manifold HPF (Horsepower Freaks) has released is causing quite a stir. There have been some shots taken from all sides and BimmerBoost decided to contact Steed Speed directly to get their response to the issues that have been mentioned. You can read the answers to our questions below.

The first issue we wanted clarification on was the price drop. It appears that HPF is essentially attempting to cut into the S54 manifold market at a lower price point. We asked if Steed Speed was retaliating:

We asked Steed Speed what they felt about about the switch.

There have been accusations that the Steed Speed product leaks inferring a design defect. Here is what Steed Speed had to say about what HPF has said about their manifold leaking:

Ultimately, Steed Speed believes this cast manifold from HPF is being produced simply to get greater profit per kit.

HPF attempted to severely undercut Steed Speed who responded by lowering their price to make the difference negligible. Such is business and we are not taking sides but wish for consumers to be as informed as possible before making their decision.

It has been suggested the Steed Speed manifold will outperform the HPF manifold. We do not know if these claims are true but are open to any independent testing and would be more than happy to report the results. What is most important is to have the best products available with documentation to help consumers make the best/most informed purchasing decision.

outta of this thread because I don't feel like replying.

I would take the steedspeed but I don't doubt hpf decisions. Now leave me outta it.
Its all in the design Batta. You shouldn't leave a forum, because members question a decision of a vendor. That would make little sense. I would go to a AA true blow thru tune if they were on the market so I use another company. Is that hate no. Its called using whats on the market. The Steed Speed manifold is a better design, and if something was really wrong with the design HPF would be recalling the manifolds and swapping in these crappy cast units. You have the better manifold, so relax and enjoy. 8-)

That's not the only reason. I'll be just lurking. All hpf threads turn negative.

People want to see flow tests and real technical info. Nothing negative just a desire for the right info.

Honestly, this board is extremely pro-HPF just that enthusiasm is better balanced.

You think it's pro hpf. Lol. I can see why people want info but people want the world from hpf. Same people don't go to these lengths with other companies. Continue the convo. Just don't mention me so I can stop posting.

batta i was not talking to you i was making my thoughts vocal, i was only addressing you to say chill out. Who cares if people bash hpf do you own the company? No you have their product, no need to take fan boy roles so serious just enjoy your car. People that bash on you due to you having hpf are most likely jealous. You act like by hating on hpf they are teasing your child.

It a shame that bashing has to take place. There's nothing wrong with technical discussion and trying to prove a point but come on... Seriously? Bashing is for children.

Honestly this thread hasn't even had a chance to take a turn for the worse yet. Let's discuss the technical aspects and see where it goes. This hasn't even had a chance to get started...

When that happens, I usually just sit back and read. It's not worth it trying to get involved. It takes to much time an energy and to be honest, it's just bad $#@!ing vibes. No bueno...

okay drama is over. Now the real question is how are we going to get our hands on both manis to test them. Then the next question is what other tests can we do beside a bench flow test. Maybe heat both up to turbo operating heat and see how easily bendable they are?

I don't know how we would get our hands on both manifolds to test them. I mean, I doubt it will happen but I can try to make it happen.

        Worth a shot right?

Good question. Who's going to take this up? Someone needs to get botch manifolds and do some testing. Maybe contact both companies to see if they are willing to loan out a manifold for some testing?

Sticky, I think you can do this. Steed speed might be willing and maybe HPF will too. It's worth it to look into it.
