Here are some pictures of our "NEW" single 3.5" exhaust "with Resonator" for the BMW 335i. Our previous versions did not include the resonator and many people that have our Gen 1 versions wanted it to be a little quieter. People also wanted a better price. Not only did we accomplish both of these goals, we also kept the extremely high quality as you can see from the pictures below. We offer both flame style and polished titanium tips. ...

Many automotive sites are reporting that Audi is receiving criticism for their styling starting to look the same. Frankly, AudiBoost believes it is unjustified. Audi has some of the best and most progressive styling out there. Their designs seem to be the most modern out of all the German brands. BMW used to be in this pitfall pre-Bangle and the transition was awkward. Audi made it work and continues to update their styles frequently as seen with recent face-lifts to their models. ...

This is a very well done concept and we kind of wish it was the real thing. Students at the Institut Superieur de Design in France put this video together of their take on a future Porsche. They see the future Porsche sports car as having a carbon fiber body, mid engine, and turbine power. There is a bit of the Porsche 918 influencing this as well as the Jaguar C-X75. Very well done by the students overall. ...

We thought this eventually might come but not so soon. Weistec has decided to sell a naturally aspirated tune for the M156 V8 which offers gains of 47 wheel horsepower on 91 octane, impressive. In addition to the horsepower gain torque is upped by 32 wheel, the speed limiter is removed, and the throttle response is optimized. The price is a very reasonable $990 which also is credited toward a supercharger purchase should one decide they want more power. ...

This comes hot on the heels of the leaked out M550d horsepower figures. BMW released a teaser video showing an X6 "M" version with all the good details specifically blocked out. It sure looks to us like this is the X6 M550d or X6 M50d whatever the name will end up being. Just like the 5 series with the triple turbo diesel expect 381 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This actually makes a heck of a lot more sense if going for "efficient dynamics" than the X6M ever did and is a very exciting development. We just hope it comes to the USA, fingers crossed. ...

Congratulations yet again to Renntech. Not too long ago a Renntech tuned CLS 63 AMG ran 11.3@125 which stood for almost 2 months as the M157 record. The record is now 11.2@126 with a run in negative density altitude at Palm Beach International Raceway. The vehicle was listed as running on slicks and we do not know the fuel but assume race gas. Regardless, well done. 10's are right around the corner for this platform which is just barely getting warmed up. ...

Revozport makes a lot of great carbon fiber products. They recently released an intake made out of carbon fiber for the MKVI GTI. The carbon work looks great and it is priced at $280. The only objection we have is the are marketing this without any performance gains or dyno numbers. Are we just supposed to pay for the pretty carbon fiber or is there a performance aspect that goes along with an intake as expected? ...

G-power tends to make a lot of announcements with big, bold claims. Their recently revealed X6M Typhoon does not break this mold. G-power states their V3 performance kit ups the horsepower in the twin turbo S63 V8 to 725 and torque to 656 pound-feet. There is no dyno to substantiate this power claim they say they get with a tune, manifolds, and exhaust. From the dyno's we have seen claiming 175 horsepower gained with those modifications alone is not happening but no mainstream sites bother to question G-power's unsubstantiated claims. ...

The Panamera Turbo is a great sedan. Difficult to improve on but Porsche has managed to do exactly that with the Panamera Turbo S. It has another 50 horsepower over the standard turbo as well as another 74 pound-feet of torque in overboost mode. This extra power coming from larger turbochargers with titanium wheels that Porsche says spool faster. Maximum boost pressure is 13.5 psi for the S versus 12.1 for the standard turbo. This results in an 11.8@118 in the 1/4 mile with 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. ...

Volkswagen unveiled this concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. This was designed by Walter de Silva or R8 and A5 fame. So what is exciting about this other than the styling? This is a hybrid crossover. Ok, actually, that isn't all that exciting. There are three motors powering the car. A turbocharged 148 horsepower motor powers the front wheels along with a 54 horsepower electric motor. Powering the rear wheels is 114 horsepower electric motor. So, this is set with a front wheel bias. It won't get built and we won't care but this shows where VW styling is headed. ...

Well, this has been a rather lengthy road to completion but the transmission is basically complete. The car was dropped off by SSP last month to Gintani who should have the motor in by the end of this week. The problem is SSP mounted their trans cooler in the location the heat exchanger for the supercharger needs to go so SSP will need to come to Gintani's facility to re-run their lines as the cooler will need to go in a different location. What took so long for this update? Well, we have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for SSP to send us details on the Viton seals that required 3 redesigns but never received the information on why these seals are superior to the stock units. ...

The B6 S4 with the 4.2 V8 is a great car but has never been really considered a powerhouse. Due the drivetrain losses from the all wheel drive the dyno numbers at the wheels are somewhat low for the class leading owners to seek more power. OE Tuning recently dyno tuned a B6 S4 with a Fast Intentions exhaust getting some impressive gains. The max baseline was 253 horsepower and 235 torque to the wheels and the peak values after the tune were 269 horsepower and 265 torque with a gain of 23 wheel horsepower at 7200 rpm. Great results on a naturally aspirated motor difficult to extract power from. ...

The Mercedes SL is a great touring car with a folding hard top. That folding hard top however added a ton of weight to the car. A 2 seat pseudo-sports car should not way more than a mid size sedan. This is the reason why the E55 AMG was actually faster than the SL55 AMG since it was lighter. Mercedes intends to drop the weight of the car by 300 pounds which should put it around the 4100 pound mark. How are they doing this? Through extensive use of aluminum in the frame and body shell. SL is supposed to stand for sport-lightweight and although over 4000 pounds is not light dropping weight is the right move. ...

Um, this seems to be an answer to a question nobody asked. We have already received the coupe and the sedan is likely coming as well but we just can not figure out why Mercedes would want to do an estate version. The Black Series is supposed to be a hardcore and more track focused version of the base AMG car and we just can not imagine too many station wagon owners wishing their vehicle carved corners better. The pictures do not lie and Mercedes is testing it but the European market is likely where this will have any appeal. ...

The current MKVI Golf does not look dated to us but Volkswagen is preparing its successor. It is reported that the car may be available as early as the end of next year which will make it a 2013 mode. The main change other than the looks of course will be the new 1.8 liter turbo four cylinder which will become the entry level motor. There is also a rumor that the next Golf R will be a diesel variant. We will just have to wait and see, enjoy the spy photos. ...

Congratulations to Audi. The German publication Auto Bild named the R8 GT the 2011 sports car of the year and the award was accepted in person by Audi at the Essen show. The R8 GT is an absolutely special automobile but is it truly the best sports car of the year? Debatable, but not really a surprise to see the Germans pick a German. Readers voted a further 5 models into the top 3 positions in their respective categories. ...

This is something we have been waiting to see for a while. An M157 comparison between a standard CLS 63 AMG, a performance package CLS 63 AMG, and a Renntech tuned CLS 63 AMG. The standard car puts down 483 wheel and 478 wheel torque. The performance package ups this to 516 and 544 respectively which is a very nice jump. The Renntech tune then takes this to 583 wheel horsepower and 643 wheel torque which is just about a 100 pound-foot gain on top of the performance package. Incredible? Yes. ...

This is a video of the F10 M5 gauge cluster as it accelerates from a stand still to 300 km/h. For those not familiar with KPH 300 works out to 186 miles per hour. Launch control is not used on the car and it spins the tires noticeably from the standstill which is no surprise. Once it hooks it moves pretty fast but does start to slow a bit up top. Still, hitting 186 MPH as quickly as it does clearly shows there is a lot of horsepower at work here. A video of a CLS63 with a tune accelerating from 0-300 is provided for comparison. ...

Porsche Design does some very cool things. They seem to do just about everything from bars, to water-pipes, to now buildings. This 57 story Porsche Design Tower condo complex will feature an elevator system that does not force one to leave their car until they literally are inside their home. No pricing information has been released but this development will likely be an attractive to car guys who no longer will have to wonder if anyone is dinging up their car in the parking garage. ...
