BMW continues to stack its drivers for the 2012 DTM season and appears very serious about beating Audi and Mercedes. First BMW stole Bruno Spengler from Mercedes. Then they took 2011 DTM champion Martin Tomczyk from Audi. Now they get Joey Hand to switch from ALMS to DTM to make what will be an all-star driver lineup when he also joins recent BMW DTM driver additions Andy Priaux and Augusto Farfus. Only 1 driver's seat left in the BMW DTM stable. ...

A real World Rally Challenge Polo rally car would run hundreds of thousands of dollars. A real Volkswagen Polo street car is relatively affordable. So, what is one to do if they want a WRC Polo R? Well, build your of own course. That is what Polish enthusiast Paul Dytko (of Dytko Sport) did with his VW Polo. His car produces 400 horsepower which is 100 more than the official vehicle. It also looks remarkably like the real deal. Dytko is currently seeking sponsorship money to build a tube frame chassis and enter his vehicle in the Pikes Peak hill climb. Based on his video below, we think he should get it. ...

These chrome foil wraps seems to be getting more and more popular, at least overseas. This car was not done by Russians but by the Czechs. Wrapstyle is the name of the Czech company and unlike the green foil 5 series this is nowhere near as good. It isn't the fault of the wrap itself necessarily but the tacky neon blue lights under the car as well as in the wheels. ...

The A1 is a cool little car that tuners seem to be taking a liking to. Take MTM for example here who created this 500 horsepower version of the A1 called the Nardo Edition. What did they do to it? Well, they swapped in the TT-RS turbo 2.5 5 cylinder and then gave it a heft power bump to 500. Combine that with a curb weight of 2,645 pounds and you have a potent performance recipe. The redline is raised a bit as well as in the video one can see them winding it out to almost 8,000 rpm. The added power gets the A1 to 324 KPH or 201 miles per hour. ...

Many BMW enthusiasts look back on the 8 series fondly. The model was the top dog of the BMW lineup. The 850csi in particular was a V12 powered beast sitting atop the 8 series model range. This artist decided to go with 860csi for whatever reason for his rendering. Many people have wondered about a new 8 series and here is one take as to what it could look like. Nothing more than a pipe dream but definitely fun to imagine and think about what a modern 8 series would be like. ...

Nice to see some results for supercharged CLK55's that come from the factory with the naturally aspirated 5.4 liter M113 V8. This a W209 CLK55 AMG which unlike the previous W208 CLK55 AMG generation has a slightly higher compression ratio bumped from 10.5:1 to 11.0:1 showing the Kleemann supercharger setup is solid being tuned well with the higher compression M113 motor. The car has the Kleemann supercharger kit, headers, cams, and a primary cat delete. ...

Here is another Hamann creation, the Cyrano Porsche Panamera Turbo. This is a full package for the Panamera including engine, interior, and exterior modifications. Hamann starts with an ECU tune to bring the car up to 580 horsepower achieved with the combination of a rear exhaust section. The wheels and suspension are modified next with 9.5x22 front wheels and 11x22 rears allowing 265/30/22 tires up front and 305/25/22 in back. A lowering module drops the car 30mm. ...

The recently officially released VF-Engineering supercharger kit for the E90,E92,E93 M3 has been making some waves. Most of you should already know that the kit powered a car well into the 10's in the 1/4 mile. Clearly well tested, tuned well, and just a good overall kit with quality hardware. This video shows exactly what is involved in installing the supercharger on the M3. If one is interested, BimmerBoost vendor VAC Motosports carries it. ...

Good news for the E36 crowd, Vipec has released their V88 plug-n-play ECU for M50 based motors including the 1995 E36 M3 S50. This box controls 100% of the stock motor functions and has an internal ignition amplifier. Want to do a turbo? No problem, it has a built in MAP sensor. Extra inputs mean the ECU can control turbo wastegates, nitrous, water/meth injection, etc. Anti-lag and launch control are built in features. At a price point of $1850 this standalone is an exceptional value. BimmerBoost vendor Apex Speed Technology carries it, click here to order or check out their site for more info. ...

This was an awesome video, strong little GTI! Rob Beck turbo upgraded 335's are no joke being able to trap in the ~125+ range. The GTI has a low compression built motor with a Precision Turbo HP5557E-B pushing about 27 psi of boost. In addition to the forged internals the heads and valvetrain were addressed with larger valves, stronger valve springs, and ported/polished heads. Check out the race video below. ...

First of all, BMW has no plans we know of to make a 1 Series wagon. So why did someone render it? Well, why not? BMW seems to be trying to squeeze every possible model variant into the lineup they can to stay ahead of Audi and Mercedes so it is not outside the realm of possibility. The 550 GT did get the green light for production somehow after all. The car does not even look bad as a wagon. It likely will never happen (and even if it did would not come to the USA) but look at the renderings and ponder what could be. ...

Do not know what this company was thinking but apparently there is a market for this. This is the ASMA body kit for the new 958 Cayenne and it just looks like someone tacked on as much plastic crap as they possibly could. The face of the car looks like it is going to eat you and throwing LED's on it does not exactly take attention away from the huge gaping hole in the front. The ducts in front of the rear wheel arch just do not look good either. The whole thing is just a mess. We will not say anything further except quote Autogespot who had this to say about the car, "Who would buy something like this? Arabs seem to be the right answer." ...

Well, we don't know how to make sense of this one. Maybach is dead as the brand will officially be terminated in 2013 as we reported last month. You would think that news would impact the prices of new models and remaining inventory negatively. The decision does not seem to have phased Mercedes who raised the price for 2012 models by roughly $4,000 across the model line. Our advice? If in the market, wait until they are clearing these out for huge discounts. Not like they hold their value that well anyway. ...

Here is what should be an epic comparison. Problem is this is Best Motoring from Japan and there are Japanese cars involved. Like every Best Motoring video, a Japanese car wins. To make matters worse, the 911 GT2RS was driven by someone who misshifted not once but twice at critical points. The ZR-1 also was driven by an old lady on a leisurely tour of the road course not someone trying to win a race. The best drivers always seem to be put into the Japanese cars. Also, with unequal drivers all racing at the same time it makes this comparison pretty much worthless. We never were fans of Best Motoring and are not surprised it was cancelled with this being the last feature. ...

Schmidt Revolution is an aftermarket wheel specialist based out of Germany. They decided to use the MKV Golf to show off their wheels against a black car. The result is actually pretty nice and definitely different. The car features the Schmidt Revolution 19 inch Gotham wheels with 19x8.5 in front and 19x9 out in back. The car gets a STO tune for a bump up to 275 horses along with a Friedrich Motorsport exhaust system. Overall, a nicely done GTI. ...

First of all, we would like to welcome our newest vendor Evolve Automotive! As an introduction to Evolve, here are the details on their valved exhaust system for the E9X M3. A valved exhaust for those unfamiliar with it means you can either open or close valves inside the exhaust to alter the sound. If you do not want to wake all your neighbors up for example when you decide a Vegas trip at 3 AM is absolutely necessary or happen to be driving by a police car this feature can sure comes in handy. The only other option for an electronic valved exhaust was really Kreissieg who costs and arm and a leg. The Evolve system is much more affordable, full details below. ...

Speaking from experience based on Southern California G-Wagons usually seen being driven by women who get them to have more space to put all their shopping bags from the local mall. The fact it is one of the baddest off road trucks out there likely never crosses their mind. Thankfully, Mercedes USA crafted this awesome video to show everyone what a G-Wagon was really designed to do and that dominate off-road in any condition. ...

Here is a new widebody kit for the Audi Q7 from JE Design. JE Design also shows off their various 22 inch wheel options with the kit. Overall the fender work is great and the kit looks very refined and well done. The square exhaust tips add a very nice look with the diffuser in back built around them. LED's are of course included in the front bumper as LED's are the super hip fad going around. Great work except for the spoiler on the side of the rear windows which looks pretty tacky. Other than that, nicely done. ...

After the tune, 194.1 peak wheel horsepower with gains throughout the entire curve. Baseline and tune results were all done on 91 octane pump gas. ...

Hard to control enthusiasm for such an epic comparison. Yes, these are all super expensive cars. The Aventador though is much, much more money than the GT2RS or the SLS AMG. Drag racing does not prove a supercars worth but it sure is fun to see. The Aventador was launched using launch control and with its all wheel drive and ISR transmission that does make a bit of a difference. We will not spoil what happens, watch the video and enjoy. ...
