Published on 06-14-2012 03:31 PM
Here are the results of a custom dyno tune on a new W204 C63 AMG Coupe. The car was run at Gintani's facility on their Dyno Dynamics. The baseline hit was 324.4 horses to the wheels which users should note is about 60 rear wheel horses less than what this vehicle dynos on a dynojet. Tuned results are 375.8 horses to the wheels resulting in a gain of 51.4 wheel horsepower. This is all on 91 octane pump gas and tune only. ...Published on 06-14-2012 03:10 PM
This is becoming a disturbing pattern although it sure is looking good for Audi. Just earlier this month Car and Driver picked the S6 over the new M5. Insideline also gave a scathing review of the new 640i GranCoupe. Now MotorTrend joins the fray picking the Audi S4 over the new 335i. The Audi significantly outperforms the 335i running 12's in the 1/4 mile stock with a 12.9@108.7. The 335i runs a 13.5@103.9. When is the last time BMW's direct competitor for an Audi model lagged this far behind? We all grew accustomed over the past couple decades to it being the reverse. ...Published on 06-14-2012 01:13 AM
Agency Power has completed design and testing of their equal length headers for the new Porsche 991 Carrera and Carrera S. The headers have a 3 to 1 design and are available with 200 cell cats or a race version with no cats. Agency Power claims the headers are lighter than stock although no weights are provided. The headers gain 11 peak wheel horsepower without cats (street version should give a little less) and there are gains throughout the entire curve which also is smoothed out a bit. Pictures and dyno testing video below, pricing information to come soon. ...Published on 06-14-2012 12:10 AM
APR does absolutely great work on the VW platforms and this is no different. Eventually in builds taken to a high level the rods and pistons become a weak point in the 2.0 motors. APR suggests upgrading the rods when going beyond the Stage 3 pump gas level. The pistons here use the same compression ratio as the stock Golf R which APR feels is best and are coated in heat resistant material. APR also does a balance shaft delete which frees up some rotational mass. ...Published on 06-13-2012 05:10 PM
BMW's dominance at the International Engine of the Year awards continues. No real surprise considering BMW is the most awarded manufacturer in the history of the competition now with 59 awards making for more than double that of the second place. The BMW S65 V8 wins its fifth straight award and likely its last with the M3 soon to end production. What makes this victory impressive is that the motor beat out the McLaren MP4-12 3.8 liter V8 as well as the new Porsche 3.8 liter direct injenction flat-6 in the new 991 Carrera S. ...Published on 06-13-2012 04:21 PM
Congratulations are in order for Audi and their 2.5 liter turbocharged TFSI inline-5 cylinder motor for winning the 2.0-2.5 liter category of the International Engine of the Year Awards for the third straight time. The motor is a truly impressive mill seeing duty in the Audi RS3 as well as Audi TT-RS. In stock form it puts out about 360 horsepower but it responds very well to modification having already put out over 500 horsepower to the wheels. Congratulations to Audi and we hope to see this motor in more Audi vehicles in the future. ...Published on 06-13-2012 03:24 PM
Previous reports about the entry level AMG A-Class model being called the A25 AMG seem to be incorrect according to Autocar. The engine is what we already knew, a tuned version of the M271 1.8 liter turbocharged inline-4 with displacement increased to 2.0 liters and power bumped to 330 horses. The unit is likely to be called the M270 EVO from early reports. The power will be channeled through a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox going to all four wheels. The all wheel drive era of AMG is soon to be here. ...Published on 06-13-2012 03:11 PM

The 950 horsepower claim here is at the crank for the 997 Turbo and with how it pulls away from the Lamborghini Aventador we have no reason to doubt it. The race is in the rain (not recommended obviously) and the Aventador seems to get out of the hole better. The 997 Turbo just flat out pulls away though up top and dusts the Aventador through the traps at the 1/4 mile and 1 mile mark. ...Published on 06-12-2012 05:53 PM
The BMW 1M in stock form is a slower car than either the Panamera Turbo or the C63 AMG. When tuned however that changes a bit when the N54 twin turbo motor is opened up. The 1M here features an Evolve-R Stage 3 race tune with full bolt on's which include downpipes and exhaust. Evolve states the car puts out 440 horsepower on their dyno dynamics which is likely conservative considering how it handles the C63 AMG and Panamera Turbo. Video of the races below. ...Published on 06-12-2012 05:16 PM
Introducing the OE Tuning E-Z flash hand held flash loader allowing users to flash their own ECU's at home via the OBD2 port. Users can switch match at their own convenience and have multiple maps for their car. The M156 motors are supported as well as the 230, 280, 300, 350, 450, and 550 models. There is no longer any need to remove an ECU from a vehicle and send it in. This flash loader is the MyGenius unit many are already familiar with. ...Published on 06-12-2012 03:11 PM
This is just an absolutely absurd Volkswagen Golf and we love it. The car in the video below is a MK2 Golf that has been retrofitted with 4Motion all wheel drive. The car runs a 1.8 lite 16 valve motor on E85 fuel with a Garrett GTX4202R turbo for about 900 horsepower. Combine that with a 2500 pound curb weight and you get a mean VW Golf. The ECU was tuned by Boba Motoring in Germany and they claim this is the fastest Golf in the world. ...Published on 06-12-2012 01:12 AM
Here is a very cool promotional video from Vivid racing featuring the new W218 CLS63 AMG with the M157 twin turbo V8. The car features a Renntech ECU flash, Agency Power downpipes, and a full exhaust. Exterior upgrades consist of carbon fiber pieces which include a front lip, diffuser, wing, and fender accents. HRE 729RS wheels with the car lowered on KW coilovers round it out. The video is very well done, check it out below. ...Published on 06-11-2012 03:57 PM
This is still so hard to believe but it is not a nightmare, it's really happening. Yes, BMW is going to show off their front wheel drive one series in concept form this September at the Paris Auto Show. We still believe front wheel drive should stay with Mini (especially considering this car will share the Mini platform) but BMW no longer cares about heritage or brand purity and simply wants as much sales volume as possible. This from the company that once mocked front wheel drive in a series of advertisements. Things just keep getting more bizarre at BMW. ...Published on 06-11-2012 03:03 PM
We have never heard of XXX-Performance before. We doubt we will hear much from them again. It is not so much that the neon green paint is bad but the wheels that go with it simply do not belong on a V10 R8. Beyond the paint, wheels, and lowering the car they also claim to tune it to 641 horses. There is no dyno to accompany it or any performance numbers to substantiate the claim. Is the car different? Sure, but not for good reasons. We hope the German tuner offers some classier options in the future. ...Published on 06-10-2012 05:40 PM
The Canadian Grand Prix has never disappointed and this year followed suit. Lewis Hamilton with his Mclaren Mercedes became the 7th winner this season. Hamilton raced with perfection to hold off Alonso and Vettel to claim the win. RBR’s Vettel started the race first with Hamilton behind, but by the end of the first pit stop he dropped to third. Hamilton retained second and Alonso claimed the lead. ...Published on 06-10-2012 02:11 PM
As many may already know, I get pretty much all my work done at VS Motorsports. They are a local race and service shop in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. Although they work on pretty much all makes and models, I can't help but notice their expertise and commitment to any car that wears a BMW badge. They daily drive BMWs. They service BMWs. They race BMWs. Not only do they have extremely knowledgable and experienced technicians, but every single member of the VS Motorsports team has automotive advice that carries weight. ...Published on 06-09-2012 05:14 PM
This week F1 returns to North America for the Canadian grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel stormed to pole after the RBR team was forced yet again to modify their car. FIA deemed their wheel hub caps were illegal and had to have their vents block. Mercedes' Nico Rosberg took fifth after sitting out of Free Practice 3 in the morning with a fuel connector problem. Schumacher was on a two lap strategy but with the team mismanaging his release he failed to make his second qualifying lap and had to settle for ninth place. Lewis Hamilton was unable to keep up with Vettel's momentum and could only claim second place. While Alonso and Webber took third and forth respectively. ...Published on 06-09-2012 05:01 PM
What is happening with these new BMW models? Just recently we saw the M5 finish last in a comparison test and now the 640i is getting poor reviews. This is a bit of disturbing trend for the direction in which BMW is heading. The Gran Coupe is a beautiful car but since when are BMW's more about exterior style than substance? This is supposed to be the Ultimate Driving Machine after all. ...Published on 06-08-2012 02:58 PM
This one has us scratching our heads. How in the world can the Audi S6 be better than the new M5 or E63 AMG? What does that say about the upcoming RS6, this is already game over? Maybe it is. The M5 finished in last place. The M5 historically being a car that was untouchable and simply the best of the best. BMW falling this far is a statement in of itself is a major publication can seriously pick a car as over-matched on paper as the Audi S6 over it. ...
