Here is the new APR RSC Audi TT-RS exhaust system. The system is modular and consists of several pieces. One can get just the full turbo back exhaust, the downpipe, or just the catback. The full turbo back exhaust including downpipe will obviously offer the largest power gains. APR says the exhaust plus Stage II software on 93 octane will provides gains of 99 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque at the crank. ...Published on 07-26-2012 04:22 AM
The C63 AMG Black Series Coupe obviously looks like it means business. As it should, it is a Black Series and the aeryodynamics are designed to be functional with track performance in mind. The car is not cheap with an as tested price of $129,725. You expect incredible performance at that level and well the car is good but tough to defend for the money. Insideline gets a 12.2@115 out of it which is not bad but certainly not really superior to the standard C63 or one with a P31 performance package for that matter. ...Published on 07-26-2012 03:21 AM
Yes, we are now starting on the design of HPF cams. We have done several M3's that make slightly more than 1,000 rwhp. We are now looking beyond 1,000rwhp. So it's time we start developing cams that are specifically designed for our turbo systems. The head design uses a follower between the valve and cam which allows for very aggressive valvetrain geometry. The lope shape can literally have a negative radius of curvature (peanut shaped on one side). ...Published on 07-26-2012 02:56 AM
AWE-Tuning released their full exhaust for the 3.0 TFSI equipped Audi A7 which replaces the factory downpipes and exhaust. The exhaust is available with either polished silver tips for $2,299 or diamond black tips for $2,399. Gains are fairly modest for a full system with AWE-Tuning claiming 12 horses max and 10 at peak to the crank and not the wheels on 93 octane. We would expect a little more out of it but the gains will likely be maximized with a tune and pulley for the supercharger. ...Published on 07-26-2012 12:03 AM
Who does not love to see cars versus bikes? The car here being the 911 GT2 RS which is capable of high 10's around the 133 mile per hour trap speed mark and the bike being the Ducati 1199 Panigale S. The Ducati has a 415 pound curb weight and a 195 horse motor putting the power to weight easily in the bikes favor. A good rider should be able to extract a 10 flat in the 1/4 mile in the mid 140 mile per hour range with the Ducati. ...Published on 07-25-2012 11:27 PM
APR has released their ECU tune for the VW/Audi 2.0 TDI motors. The stock motors are in the 140 horsepower range and APR claims to boost this up to 170. Torque gains go from 236 to 297 pound-feet. Crank and wheel graphs are posted below. This upgrade is available for the diesel Audi A3, MKV and MKVI Golf, MK5 and MKVI Jetta, and the B6 Passat. Very nice gains at a very reasonable price. ...Published on 07-25-2012 09:56 PM
COBB Tuning is proud to announce that BMW N54 AccessPORT users can now tune for alternate fuels, such as E85, with the latest updates in AccessTUNER Race and AccessTUNER Pro tuning software. AccessPORT end-users and professional tuners can quickly update AccessPORT maps to accommodate fuels of different specific energy using the newly added Fuel Scalar tables, resulting in proper fuel trims during engine operation. This development opens the door for BMW N54 enthusiasts looking to take advantage of the performance and cost benefits of using E85 and other fuel blends. ...Published on 07-25-2012 09:42 PM
The dynograph posted below is the result of the Eurocharged M278 Stage I tune on a 2012 CLS550. Gains are a very impressive 52.4 wheel horsepower and 65.7 pound-feet of wheel torque. The ECU must be mailed in to the Houston location for the upgrade, free next day shipping for quick turnaround included. Eurocharged will also flash the ECU again for free should a dealer overwrite it or if you want an update for additional modifications. ...Published on 07-25-2012 07:29 PM
These are the videos we like to see, comparing the same cars with different mods. In this case the camera car has an Evolve Stage I ECU tune, RPI scoops, RPI pulley, RPI block off plates, and an Eisenmann muffler. The other M5 (2006) is running a Powerchip tune which used to be one of the best tunes for these cars but Powerchip is pretty much on life support (if not dead entirely) and is living off their past name and tunes which have not evolved as the Evolve tune has (pun intended). ...Published on 07-24-2012 11:41 PM
As seen testing earlier the R8 facelift is now officially here. The V8 and V10 models both get dual clutch 7 Speed S-Tronic transmissions. The front and rear lights are also updated with new LED units. There is also a new model added called the V10 Plus which has 542 horses from the 5.2 V10. It is only offered as a coupe. We'd advise members in the market to skip this model and just get the standard V10 with an aftermarket tune. ...Published on 07-24-2012 10:44 PM
With spyphotos of the upcoming M4 (the new M3 coupe) being posted last week it is no surprise renderings of what the car may look like are popping up. This is by far the best one out of all the efforts we have seen. Clearly lowered with a lip and M6 style rims, if the real thing looks this good we may just have to change our mind on the awkwardness of the M4 model name. We still are waiting for details as far as what it will have under the hood but we expect a 450+ horsepower turbo inline-6. ...Published on 07-24-2012 07:00 AM
Audi announced US pricing for the upcoming 2013 RS5 starting at $68,900. Much higher base price than an M3 but honestly not terrible considering with options out the door it will be similar and also that the UK pricing is 58,750 British Pounds which works out to $91,044 at current exchange rates. The RS5 will be worth the price considering it will be far more rare than the M3. It will also offer much fresher styling as well as a high revving V8, a dual clutch transmission, and all wheel drive. Check out the order guide and pictures below. ...Published on 07-24-2012 06:33 AM
BMW is the two time ALMS GT Class defending champion. They are accustomed to winning and being the cream of the GT class crop so we understand the reason for the attitude displayed in the their latest press release regarding this past weekends ALMS race. BMW stated their cars were able to "persevere" through the race despite new regulations that have limited the cars speed in the straights by as much as 4 miles per hour. We like when BMW shows some attitude. This lets us know the spark we love is still alive somewhere in the Motorsport division. ...Published on 07-24-2012 05:33 AM
The next generation MKVII Golf is coming (spotted testing here) and will make its debut this fall at the Paris car show. We will get the standard Golf in the USA as well as the GTI. What is interesting is we may also get the GTD which is akin to a GTI diesel. Car and Driver rendered the new Golf as you can see in the picture below. With how important this model is for the VW brand we have no doubt it will improve on everything we love about the current MKVI. ...Published on 07-24-2012 02:57 AM
The Audi Q2 will arrive as a 2016 model based on the A1 platform. It will be the smallest crossover in the Audi lineup likely available as a front wheel drive which will compete with the BMW X1. This car will arrive at the perfect time to challenge the new BMW X1 which will also be front wheel drive and set to be smaller as it will be based on the next generation Mini Countryman. ...Published on 07-24-2012 02:34 AM
The German Grand Prix did not go as planned for Mercedes-Petronas. Schumacher qualified well in 3rd place putting himself in position to do well. Unfortunately, he would ultimately finish in 7th place picking up just 6 points. Rosberg did not fare better finishing the race in 10th place picking up just a single point. These results simply will not due and do not help the Mercedes team much if they want to move out of their 5th place position. ...Published on 07-23-2012 11:52 PM
The luxury performance SUV segment was really started by Porsche with the Cayenne Turbo which has been the cream of the crop since its introduction. When BMW saw how well Porsche was doing with the Cayenne as well as Mercedes with its AMG ML variants, they finally caved in and decided to get in the mix creating the X5M. We will readily admit the X5M is a spectacular performance SUV worthy of its first place finish in this comparison. ...Published on 07-23-2012 11:10 PM
Congratulations to Porsche whose sales continue to improve at record pace. At this point last year, Porsche sold 60,659 cars. At the same point this year, 69,171 for a difference of 14%. Sales are up 20.8% in Germany alone and 24.5% in China. The biggest market for Porsche, the United States, is up 5.8%. Porsche 911 sales are up 27.9% alone due in large part to the launch of the new 991 model generation. ...Published on 07-23-2012 11:01 PM
It seems like Boba Motoring is breaking their own record every week. We just saw this car hit 200 miles per hour as well as break into the 8's with an 8.89@165 mph run. Well, they have managed to lower their elapsed time to 8.65. This is a MKII Golf running E85 fuel on a 1.8 liter 16 valve motor. A Garrett GTX4202R compresses enough air for 900+ horsepower on this run. That power is sent through a 4 speed sequential to all four wheels. How much quicker can this thing possibly get? ...Published on 07-23-2012 02:49 AM
This is the second class action suit to be brought against Mercedes/Daimler reported by BenzBoost. The previous reported suit to yet be resolved (parties waiting on the judge as Daimler requested dismissal) is awaiting a ruling before proceeding further. The suit posted below in its entirety details alleged defects to the W211 E-Class fuel tank, fuel sending unit, and evaporation which can cause liquid fuel leaking outside gas as well as vapors entering the inside of the vehicle. ...
