KW has released coilover suspensions upgrades for the new V10 M5 consisting of their V3 and Clubsport systems. EDC (BMW electronic dampening control) is disabled with these and a EDC delete module prevents any codes or errors from showing in the car. The V3's allow adjustment in dampening and rebound. The clubsport coilovers are either 2 or 3 way adjustable in damping and also contain external fluid reservoirs. ...Published on 09-02-2012 06:28 PM
Mercedes AMG F1 entered Spa struggling, just like they left Hungary. They were unable to run on Friday because of the torrential rain which hurt them during qualifying and saw them outside of the top 10. Come race day, Michael on his 300th grand prix was able to finish in 7th place with an ailing car after he lost 6th gear with 10 laps to go. Rosberg fought back from 23rd to finish in a respectable 11th place. ...Published on 08-31-2012 05:28 PM
We are going to see some absolutely awesome battles take place between the new twin turbo BMW and Mercedes SUV's. This video below shows us runs between a G63 AMG that is stock and a BMW X5M from a stop and a roll. The X5M wins decisively and is the faster SUV of the two. The first run from a stop with the X5M using launch control on the G63 is simply a beatdown. The runs from a roll even when the G63 AMG jumps (the driver sure likes to start early) still have the X5M creeping up from behind and pulling up top. ...Published on 08-31-2012 01:32 PM
Velos Designwerks continues to show exceptional command of the BMW N63 V8 Twin Turbo V8 by setting a new horsepower record on the platform. Just a few weeks ago they hit 441 wheel horsepower with BimmerBoost member Jimefam's 6-speed manual 550i with AR Design downpipes. They have raised the bar to 461 wheel horsepower (STD on a dynojet). This is basically F10 M5 level horsepower. ...Published on 08-31-2012 01:11 PM
AMS Performance is starting to go hard at the R8 V10 market. Just a few days ago we posted about their Twin Turbo kit for the R8 V10 and now we have details on their naturally aspirated V10 tune. Gains are very healthy with 66 horses added at the wheels from just a tune only on 93 octane. These numbers substantially exceed what Fabspeed hit with a tune and a exhaust also on a dynojet. ...Published on 08-30-2012 08:33 PM

The Nurburgring has become a sort of standard to measure track performance. Manufacturers tout their laptimes as evidence of this performance but the problem is there is not a set standard to follow. This leads to a bit of confusion regarding times and the video below of an M3 achieving a laptime of 7:36 is the perfect example of this. Why? Well, the explanation is below but not all Nurburgring laptimes are created equal. ...Published on 08-30-2012 02:50 PM

M5 vs. M3. One of the great debates of our time that has the potential to turn any BMW message board into a full blown e-riot. When the DCT M3 first came out many M5 owners refused to believe the M3 could keep up with it. Well, reality is it definitely can especially from down low where the lower weight and dual clutch transmission help versus the more powerful (and heavier) M5. ...Published on 08-29-2012 06:15 PM
Velos Designwerks just posted M278 software tune dyno results for a W212 Mercedes E550. Baseline for the car was 379 wheel horsepower and 418 pound-feet of wheel torque on a dynojet in STD correction. Once tuned, the wheel horsepower number rose to 425 for a gain of 46 wheel horsepower and the torque number rose to 483 pound-feet of wheel torque for a gain of 65 wheel torque. ...Published on 08-29-2012 01:47 PM
Magazine numbers from both of these cars put them at similar acceleration levels. In the 1/4 mile the Porsche Turbo's all wheel drive favors it slightly but from a roll on the rear wheel drive of the Ferrari should have the advantage. The 458 is about 200 pounds lighter depending on options. On paper the 458 has more horsepower but the Turbo has more torque under the curve. Both have quick shifting dual clutch transmissions. ...Published on 08-29-2012 01:12 PM
Those in the BMW M3 S65 V8 tuning community know that supercharged S65 V8 stroker motors have been tried before and the latest experiement ended in colossal failure. G-Power seems to have the first successfully tuned and running supercharged stroker S65 V8. They take the displacement up from 4.0 liters to 4.6 liters courtesy of increased stroke from a custom crank and add their SKII supercharger kit to boost output to 720 horsepower. ...Published on 08-28-2012 11:44 PM
There have been several conflicting reports regarding the transmission options for the upcoming Porsche 991 GT3. EVO Magazine stated the car would have 470 horsepower and a PDK trans. Our latest report on the topic stated Porsche was leaning toward offering the PDK trans and that both manual and PDK versions were undergoing testing. The video below clearly shows PDK rev matched downshifts and the lightning quick PDK upshifts. ...Published on 08-28-2012 08:11 PM
We are glad to see AMS paying more and more attention to the German performance car market. They currently are working on their twin turbo kit for the Audi R8 V10. This is currently a stock internal kit tuned on the stock ECU. Power is said to be around the 900 horsepower mark and although there is a video of the car on the dyno below no graphs were posted supporting this number. It is definitely attainable and we do not doubt AMS in hitting it. ...Published on 08-28-2012 01:21 PM
AMG will be solely responsible for Mercedes V12 development for all future models. This does not mean the V12 will disappear from the Mercedes portfolio just that AMG will be hand building the low volume motors. AMG already builds the M275, M279, and Pagani V12's for example. 600 models will not be gone from the lineup but instead will feature AMG motors without the AMG badge. ...Published on 08-28-2012 12:11 PM
Velos Designwerks recently completed an ESS VT2-625 supercharger install on an E92 M3 at their location in Florida. In the hot and humid Florida weather the car put down 567.8 wheel horsepower (we are unsure on what correction factor was used) on their dynojet dyno. We recently saw an ESS-VT2 600 which runs lower boost and a less aggressive tune put down 534 horsepower to the wheels on a dynojet with STD correction making the numbers for this higher output kit fall right inline. ...Published on 08-28-2012 11:41 AM
USP Motorsports just keeps squeezing more and more power out of their APR Stage 3+ Jetta GLI build. A little over two weeks ago we posted about them hitting 403 wheel horsepower on 93 octane pump gas. Now on 100 octane race gas they were able to raise this number to a very impressive 426 wheel horsepower. The vehicle does have forged rods which is the only internal upgrade to handle the power. ...Published on 08-27-2012 11:24 PM
The new M6 is not exactly what you would call a lightweight track car but we still expect the new M cars to be able to perform on the track. In the video below race car driver Bill Auberlin (a current BMW ALMS driver) takes the M6 for a lap around Laguna Seca passing an Alpina B7 in the process which was actually doing an admirable job holding the M6 off. Of course the M6 is able to eventually pass and show what it can do. ...Published on 08-27-2012 07:21 PM
Congratulations to Porsche, the new Carrera S is MotorTrend's best drivers car of 2012. It achieved this impressive feat against strong competition including the Lamborghini Aventador, Jaguar XKR-S, Ford Shelby GT500, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, McLaren MP4-12C, Nissan GTR Black Edition, Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series, and the Subaru BRZ was invited as well for some reason. ...
