The 458 is light, fast, and has a dual clutch transmission. Not an easy car to beat and owners of the car probably never think they will lose to a BMW designed in the 80's. Well, this turbo E30 with a 2.8 liter running E85 quite simply pulls away from the Italia like its standing still. In the race the Italia gets quite a nice lead by virtue of having no lag and its dual clutch transmission quickly completing the shifts in low gears. ...Published on 10-11-2012 04:00 AM
This is a rather interesting development in the Mercedes-Benz AMG performance scene. Truth is, World Motorsports is a newer name and one not seen on BenzBoost before. A Mercedes SLS AMG Twin Turbo kit certainly is quite a way to make an entrance. They already seem to have the turbos mounted but hardware is only one part of puzzle. What about the tuning? What about the impact of the torque on the SLS dual clutch transmission? These are just some of the problems posed. ...Published on 10-11-2012 02:21 AM
Introducing the AWE-Tuning Track Edition / Switchpath catback exhaust system and Performance Downpipe for the MKVI Golf R. The catback system by itself will give about 8 peak horsepower and 6 pound-feed of peak torque. A rear section exhaust is not where one will really get big power gains and that is what the downpipe is for. It provides gains of 22 horsepower and 17 pound-feet of torque on top of a car that has the rear section and software. ...Published on 10-10-2012 11:34 PM
The new 991 generation Carrera certainly incorporates a ton of technology with its available dual clutch transmission, PASM (Porsche Active Stability Management), and PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control). MotorTrend decides to compare the new 911 to a car that is all about using technology to your advantage which is the Nissan GT-R. They ultimately come away with the feeling that the 911 is more fun to drive and that the GT-R feels artificial. Yes, the Nissan is a robot. ...Published on 10-10-2012 06:50 PM
Renntech released their Diesel software for the E90 BMW 335d as well as the E70 X5 xDrive35d both equipped with the turbo M57 diesel six-cylinder motor. Renntech provided BimmerBoost with their dyno runs and the highest baseline was chosen to display on the graph along with the peak tuned figures in SAE correction. Renntech claims gains of up to 65 crank horsepower and 54 crank pound-feet of torque. ...Published on 10-10-2012 05:24 PM
The Corvette ZR-1 is a seriously fast piece of machinery. Easily a 10 second car capable of 130+ in the 1/4 mile. The E55 in stock form is no match for it, not even close. Modified however, and things change. Yes, the ZR-1 is much lighter and mod for mod will be faster but that is not the discussion here. This is about if a modified E55 with the M113K motor and modified stock supercharger can beat the ZR-1. ...Published on 10-10-2012 01:42 AM
Canadian designer Anibal Automotive Design does some very, very over the top body kits and certainly does things different from others. Their body kit for the R8, Toxic, certainly is different from the other offerings on the market and may be considered way too over the top by some. This kit completely transforms the car and certainly will get a ton of attention if that is what someone is seeking. ...Published on 10-09-2012 10:02 PM
An in depth comparison between the AMG M157 and BMW S63TU V8 Twin Turbo motors similar to the M278 versus N63 article that BenzBoost did recently is coming. For now, let's compare the M157 and S63TU motors in stock form. Insideline did a dyno test of both motors and has a dynojet dyno overlay for us comparing the curves of both motors. What is interesting is that both hit the same peak horsepower values. ...Published on 10-09-2012 07:44 PM
The Tesla Model S is no slouch. It has run the 1/4 mile in 12.5@110 which certainly is impressive for a heavy car with 416 horsepower from its electric motor. The thing is, the new M5 makes much more horsepower and is capable of 120 mile per hour trap speeds stock. IND recently ran 11.9@119.5 in the 1/4 mile on street tires meaning on paper this is quite a mismatch and the Tesla Model S simply can not win. ...Published on 10-09-2012 05:05 PM
HRE has long been known as a performance-driven company where strength, light weight, and superior engineering have driven some of the most iconic wheel designs of the past three decades. Now it has something new – clean sheet designs that sprang from the intersection of racecar engineering, exotic materials, and organic European design language. This is the wheel line that will change everything: the HRE Series S1 available in 19, 20, 21, and 22 inch sizes. ...Published on 10-09-2012 01:28 AM
Many of you will likely already be giving victory to the Porsche 911 in this instance. How can the little brother take on the iconic 911? Well, the fact of the matter is the Boxster/Cayman platform is artificially held back to protect the 911's image. Like it or not, the Boxster as well as the Cayman is a lighter and a better balanced vehicle thanks to its mid-engine layout. If the Boxster and 911 had equal power and suspension development, the Boxster would win every time. ...Published on 10-08-2012 04:19 PM
All centrifugal superchargers for the BMW S65 V8 do not produce the same powerbands. For example one kit with a certain supercharger compressor map may have much stronger mid-range punch and another may have a much stronger top end. It is this aspect that sparked a large debate after a video was posted of BimmerBoost members akh23456 and LostMarine comparing their Active Autowerke and ESS M3 supercharger kits respectively.

Mercedes AMG F1 had a busy week. They announced the signing of Mclaren's Lewis Hamilton to a 3 year contract starting next year worth at least 60 million pounds. A few days later, Schumacher announced his retirement from F1 at the end of the season. On race weekend the team struggled. Both drivers failed to make it into the top 10 qualifying. Schumacher started 23rd because of a 10 place grid penalty from Singapore and Nico Rosberg started 13th. ...Published on 10-05-2012 07:10 PM
More and more F82 M4 (new M3 coupe) testing photos are making their way onto the internet. What we know since we last saw the car testing is that under the hood there is a turbocharged six cylinder featuring a water/air intercooler. Rumors flying around suggest that BMW is targeting E46 M3 weight for the F80 M3 which is at least a step in the right direction considering how heavy new BMW models are getting. ...Published on 10-05-2012 06:31 PM
Everyone should know by now the E-Class is getting a facelift and going to a single piece headlight design versus the current split design. This goes for both the sedan and the C207 E-Class coupe. The coupe having been spotted testing with its facelift and posted just days ago. The piece was leaked out by an Italian blog and it is unknown how they managed to get photos of the production piece and final design. ...Published on 10-05-2012 06:11 PM
Wow! Absolutely incredible results from APR with a DSG Golf R running a "Stage 4" APR tuning package. They did not state exactly what turbo is used only that it is a Garrett GTX series. This is a street legal car that was run in Australia at an Australian National Drag Racing Association certified drag strip. This is a dual clutch transmission (DSG) car that does have upgrades including SSP clutch packs and Harding Performance DSG software. ...Published on 10-04-2012 07:52 PM
The year is not over yet but certainly is winding down. Good news for Mercedes-Benz as they lead BMW by 5,200 units sold up until this point. In the United States that makes for a 8.7% gain in September for Mercedes-Benz and 12.7% year to date. The Mercedes and BMW sales battle came down to the last few days of the year with every sale having an impact in the tight race in 2011 but it looks like Mercedes has themselves a bit of a cushion this year. ...Published on 10-04-2012 07:20 PM
This M3 comes from China and apparently the owner has more money than he knows what to do with as he spent quite a bit ruining this M3. Gold foil is fine if pulled off correctly. There is an X5M in Russia that was able to do exactly this keeping it somewhat tasteful with the gold foil. This car takes the already ostentatious gold foil and then adds look at me lambo style doors with a widebody kit that has questionable fitment. ...Published on 10-04-2012 06:00 PM
This is really not surprise as Volkswagen shares development across its brands. What is interesting though is that the future Porsche MSB (Modular Standard Platform or Modularer Standardantrieb-Baukasten in German) platform will underpin all future Bentley models. This platform will incorporate aluminum meaning the very heavy curb weight of the current Bentley models is expected to drop. This platform is modular so we will see it first with a new Mulsanne model and then other models. ...Published on 10-04-2012 04:41 AM
All good things must come to an end, even for one of the greatest drivers of a generation. It seems the announcement by Mercedes of the signing of Lewis Hamilton was the final push Michael Schumacher needed to finally decide to retire from Formula 1 racing for good. Schumacher seems to be at peace with his decision seemingly knowing that his ride in F1 had come to an end this season. ...
