This certainly is an interesting piece of news and potentially a very exciting new M car. A real M car mind you, none of this F20 1 Series "M135i" junk. Apparently BMW is considering producing this 1-Series sedan as a rival to the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG as well as the Audi A3/RS3 sedan. Since the current F20 1-Series is hatchback only building a sedan on the platform would fill a niche the competition is already gearing up for. ...Published on 11-21-2012 03:23 PM
The M157 is flat out a beast of a motor even in stock form. When tuned, well, the thing just gets even more insane. Just look at the video below for proof where Carlsson's CK63 effortlessly gets to 207 miles per hour from a stop and does so very quickly. Carlsson claims they increased the output of this Performance Package CLS63 AMG from 557 horsepower to 652 horsepower. No dynographs to prove it but the video certainly shows some stupid fast acceleration so no reason to doubt the claims although European tuners should start supporting their output figures. ...Published on 11-21-2012 01:52 PM
The convergence of art and science – that nexus where engineering and design merge to create something purely beautiful yet truly functional – is where many of the modern era’s most fascinating creations are born. San Diego based HRE Wheels and Wisconsin based automotive artisans Ringbrothers both share this common philosophy and the two teams proudly unveiled their first collaboration at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the new Ringbrothers Editions by HRE Wheels. ...Published on 11-21-2012 11:21 AM
It's difficult to take Automobile Magazine seriously when they just throw rumors out there with no substance seemingly to gain attention and hits. There is no official support for the claim Automobile is making that the a BMW M8 supercar is on the way "come hell or high water." In March of this year official word from BMW was that no M version of the i8 was coming and instead BMW was focused on expanding the "i" brand of cars. ...Published on 11-21-2012 10:56 AM
Congratulations to VWBoost member pattrick02 who broke into the 11's in the 1/4 mile with his MKVI Volkswagen Jetta GLI. This car recently dyno'd 473 wheel horsepower with a modified APR Stage III kit and a fuel system upgraded by USP Motorsports including the LPFP (low pressure fuel pump and HPFP (high pressure fuel pump). Definitely some good power out of the 2.0 liter turbocharged motor. A 1.746 60 foot for a front wheel drive car is definitely impressive as well. ...Published on 11-21-2012 10:23 AM
An 1/8 mile is really nowhere near long enough for cars with this much power to stretch their legs. However, these videos are really well done offering a great angle and good quality showing what happens. The Audi R8 V10 is said to be Twin Turbo although it does not perform as strongly as a turbo R8 should. Even with its all wheel drive advantage in a short race the McLaren MP4-12C manages to pull it towards the end of the 1/8 and being a stock car it tends to support the conclusion the R8 is running fairly low boost with its Heffner setup. ...Published on 11-20-2012 07:51 PM
The last time the SLC was mentioned was in June of this year when the model was delayed indefinitely and put under "observation" due to its costs being deemed too high. Automobile, who gets things wrong pretty frequently, is saying the SLC will come in 2014 to replace the SLS. Why the SLS is being replace is anyone's guess as the SLC was supposed to be a 911 competitor aiming at a different market than the SLS AMG. ...Published on 11-20-2012 06:12 PM
Here is a nice comparison from Automobile where they take four of the hottest German performance cars out right now under $64000 (base price) to find which one is the best. The cars are the 2013 Audi RS5, Mercedes C63 AMG coupe, BMW M3, and the new Porsche Boxster S. The Boxster really being a roadster so it doesn't not fit in cleanly into the comparison but if someone is cross shopping based on price it certainly fits in. ...Published on 11-20-2012 02:44 PM
In case anyone was doubting the difference an upgraded turbo setup makes on an N54 here is a video that should change your mind. The camere car belongs to BimmerBoost member Wedge1967 who has been running his mouth just a bit regarding the performance of his stock turbo 335i on E85 with a Vishnu Procede tune. The 335i that pulls away (way away) has RB upgraded twins and a Burger Tuning JB4. ...Published on 11-20-2012 11:50 AM
The BMW X6 has changed the SUV game and the upcoming Q8 is evidence of that. Originally thought to be the Q6, Audi will call their BMW X6 rival the Q8. The car will be underpinned by the next generation Q7/Cayenne platform. The idea of the car was apparently well received in potential customer surveys leading Audi to believe it will generate an additional 25,000 yearly sales. And the Q8 is just the beginning. ...Published on 11-20-2012 11:40 AM
Ok by now everyone hopefully knows the E-Class is getting a facelift with a new headlight design. Recently in Spain an undisguised facelifted E-Class was caught testing so the general design is pretty much known. This new video however gives us an in-depth look at the new design including what it looks like lit up. The new design is still edgy but at the same time offering a fresher and more modern look akin to the new Mercedes models. ...Published on 11-19-2012 10:58 AM
Here are results for the G-Power SKII CS supercharger kit results on an E92 M3 6-speed manual car from Bimmerboost vendor Precision Sport. The car dyno'd 502.6 wheel horsepower with the supercharger in SAE correction which is a substantial increase from the 339.3 wheel baseline. Keep in mind, the car has heavy 20 inch G-Power wheels which definitely affect the numbers. Regardless, the curve is very nice with a large increase in torque through the whole rev range. ...Published on 11-19-2012 09:20 AM
Here is a race between two GermanBoost members. M3ntal with his modified 996TT with HTA 3071 turbos on E85 capable of 717 wheel horsepower and Mr. Squeeze's built motor 370Z twin turbo which so far has shown 647 wheel horsepower at 19 psi. The Porsche is on E85 and the 370Z on 100 octane so both were certainly trying to show their best. The 996TT however is the victor leaving the 370Z behind from a ~55 mph roll although the Z puts up a fairly good fight. ...Published on 11-19-2012 08:43 AM

The United States Grand Prix in Austin at the brand new circuit of Americas was a success. Lewis Hamilton had his second victory in the United States taking the checkered flag followed by Sebastian Vettel in second and Fernando Alonso in third. This sets up an interesting battle for the championship at the final race of the season in Brazil. Vettel remains 1st in the driver standings with a 13 point lead over Alonso. ...Published on 11-18-2012 07:37 PM
Well this story finally has some closure and it seems justice has been served. Back in October 2011 MBUSA CEO Ernst Lieb was relieved of his duties. It was later revealed that he was relieved due to charging personal expenses to the company expense account. Charging things like personal vacation flights, remodeling his home, and his wife's country club membership. Well, Mr. Lieb took issue with his dismissal and sued Daimler in Germany over wrongful termination. ...Published on 11-18-2012 06:51 AM
Here is a nice set of renderings of the upcoming Audi RS7 that has been testing for some time now. It is likely the RS7 as well as the new RS6 will share the same specs. That means a hotter version of the 4.0 TFSI from the Audi S8 which is already putting out 528 horsepower and powering the Audi S8 to some very impressive acceleration times. How much hotter? Likely similar to the version found in the Bentley Continental GT which puts out 567 horses. ...Published on 11-18-2012 06:23 AM
The Porsche Panamera platform is modular and the future Panamera chassis will be shared by many models in the VW Group portfolio. There is a good chance we will see a revival of a Porsche GT style coupe with a front engine V8 and two seats based on the Panamera. An independent artist took it upon himself to render what such a vehicle might look like. The Armenian artist calls the coupe a Porsche 929. ...Published on 11-18-2012 05:29 AM
The E46 M3 in the video below is a very, very fast car capable of over 900 wheel horsepower. The vehicle belongs to BimmerBoost member Zooyorq and is by any stretch of the imagination a stupid fast car. The problem is it ran into an even more stupidly fast car. In the defense of the M3, the Gallardo gets a huge jump and the M3's power was dialed down a bit to the 700+ wheel range due to traction issues. ...Published on 11-18-2012 02:01 AM
This thing looks flat out cool, like a G-Class from the future. Introducing the Mercedes Ener-G-Foce which is designed to look like a Patrol Vehicle from the year 2025. The styling cues are taken from the G-Class and modified very radically. Mercedes is entering this concept in the LA Auto Show design challenge and from the looks of it they have a very good chance of winning with such a progressive and forward thinking design. ...
