To do some street setup track testing. I wanted to see how my current DD setup actually performs in the real-world. And now I know. I got 3 runs in, the track was crazy packed, A LOT of cool-down time.. So, full weight, 93 oct pump/meth 90/10 mix. map 7, meth map1 (18.5psi)

With the release of the 6 series concept by BMW we felt the need update our previous F12 M6 renderings. We now have complete front and back renderings taking into account all the styling details from the concept. We believe this is an accurate representation of what the M6 will look like based on how the M styling is evolving taking into account the details revealed in the 1 M coupe as well. With so many cold air intakes on the market, a lot of us no longer use the stock intake plumbing. That leaves a gap, or opening, for air to wastefully be directed away from the radiator and into the engine bay. Since keeping this very hot engine cool should be a huge goal for all of us, STETT Performance decided to make a very nice and inexpensive mod to help force more air through your radiator. The Active Autowerke Tune for the N63 motors is here. Gains seem to be pretty good with almost 40 whp gained and almost 44 pound-feet of torque. We are not sure what the price is as it was not posted but will update here when Active gets back to us. When looking at the graph, most of the gains are early on. These turbo BMW motors are not gaining much from being revved out, they are actually losing HP. The curve is not as impressive as the NA counterparts and clearly some head or cam work would benefit these motors if they are going to be revved out. Over time, we all mature as car enthusiasts. Priorities change, and the things that were important when you were modifying cars at 16 years old lose value as you age and learn. If at 16, having the coolest look was more important than anything else, then perhaps your early 20s are a never ending quest for the most possible power. Most enthusiasts that have fought their way through hundreds of track events, destroyed engines, and years of sweat and effort will eventually quest for something much simpler. Most enthusiasts with a solid decade of experience will want nothing more than a car that works well, reliably. Reliability is everything. This Z4 caught our eyes. It has a full Hamann kit but it has some differences from the kit we showed you previously. The front bumper being the main difference and this version is more aggressive. The wheels here are 20 inch GT30's from Rays Engineering. The quad exhaust with round tips adds a nice aggressive look. This is the first Z4 we have seen outside Hamann's own with the full kit. As BMW often does, they reveal their new models at auto shows in concept form. The new 6 is no different and here is what BMW will be presenting at Paris, the 6 series concept coupe. Overall, the design is a huge improvement over the previous model. Dinan's V8 Twin Turbo software is here. The stated gains bring the cars up to 495 horsepower and 573 pound-feet of torque. Boost is raised from 9.8 to 14 psi. Dinan does match the BMW warranty coverage which is nice. At $2999 though, they better. ...Published on 09-17-2010 08:44 AM
Even though the new E89 Z4 is out, Rieger is now releasing its kit for the previous E85 generation Z4. The kit consists of a front bumper, side skirts, and a rear bumper. Here we have some exceptional photography of an E92 M3 in Black with the full Arkym kit. The car has the hood in carbon along with the trunk and rear diffuser. Car is built by Budler Motorsport. Its the first time out so these runs can be considered shake down runs. The car is powered by a S38 motor from the E28 M5. Its has a manual gearbox. I am reckon we going to see mid 8's from this baby. ...Published on 09-15-2010 07:21 AM
Very nice article from BMW Car in the September 2010 issue. Great photography as usual and a nice, fairly in depth synopsis. As is typically the case with European mags, no data panel, slalom, or 1/4 mile times provided but the quality writing makes up for it. Well it seems that Audi is taking it to the BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster. After Audi did their online petition, we knew it was only a matter of time before we got this car. The petition received 11,500 signatures in just a month. Pricing has not been released yet but this 360 hp car is going to offer a strong alternative to the Z4 35is. 3D Design has released their program for the F10 5 series. It consists of a front lip spoiler, trunk lip spoiler, and roof spoiler all made out of polyurethane. The rear diffuser is made out of carbon fiber. A quad exists is also offered for an aggressive look and will be available as a stand alone exhaust system soon. 3D Design Type III forged lightweight wheels cap off the look. BimmerWorld has released their E46 M3 race exhaust. The exhaust weighs just 27 pounds and drops an impressive 62 pounds vs. the stock exhaust. The horsepower gains are in the 10 whp range as you can see in the dyno below. The gains are vs. a "typical" sport exhaust. What is a typical sport exhaust? We don't know, we would prefer for BimmerWorld to be more specific as to the mods on the car used on their baseline. This is our question of the month for September 2010. BMW is increasingly taking measures to make it difficult to tune the cars. This goes against the very spirit of BimmerBoost and the BMW enthusiast. We don't want them to continue taking control away from us as well as hurting the aftermarket. We do understand the need for BMW to protect themselves from people who abuse leases, but what about the person who intends to buy and keep the car? Should they not have the option to buy with an unrestricted ECU foregoing partial aspects of the warranty? ...
