As promised, here are the results so far for our non-intercooled VT1 version of our upcoming S85 SC kit. Final results may vary slightly as production spec hardware/software is not yet 100% finalized:
Car : 2006 E60 M5, 100% stock except for SC kit

Boost pressure : ~6PSI
SC unit : Vortech V3Si ...Published on 11-07-2010 03:09 PM
Went to the dragstrip yesterday determined to get into the 10s. It was a Buick Grand National race that allowed test and tune between rounds. I surprised many black Buicks when a lonely white BMW blazed down the track. Car was at full weight, 96 octane (I added 2.5 gallons of VP100 to the 93 already in the car), and no burnouts (went around the water box every run). ...Published on 11-07-2010 04:45 AM
Arkym continues to impress with their BMW body pieces namely for the E9X M3. This time, we see some E90 specific pieces. The front bumper and rear diffuser are specific to this E90 application. We also see modified sideskirts here that take an aggressive stance on the OEM look. This is in addition to the 1x1 carbon hood and trunk. All we can say is keep up the good work and we would like to see Arkym tackle a widebody for the E92 M3! ...Published on 11-07-2010 02:52 AM
We are sure it is a pleasant surprise to you that AR Design is the newest supporting vendor on BimmerBoost. Well, you are not alone in that sentiment. We welcome AR Design whom most of you know as the manufacturer of downpipes for the N54 market. As a promotion in introducing themselves to our community, AR Design is offering a discount to BB members on their oil cooler, N54 oil catch can, gasket kits, and associated hardware. The promo code is BBIntroPromo and AR's site is www.ardesign.info . Let's provide a warm welcome! ...Published on 11-05-2010 04:32 PM
Apparently Adrian used to work for Haltech doing embedded design. And designed among other things the Interceptor Platinum for them, what the current PROcede is based on. He left to work for another non-automotive company and Haltech would bring him back here and there for updates as needed.
Shiv started buying from Haltech but needed more programming support than they could provide. So they put him in contact with Adrian. It got too expensive for Haltech so they let Shiv pay Adrian directly for support, and finally allowed Adrian to license use of the hardware he had designed working for them. As part of that license Haltech still builds the hardware for some set fee. ...Published on 11-05-2010 04:56 AM
As many of you know, I have a STETT Performance Cold Air Intake (CAI) on my car. About a month ago, STETT mentioned they have a version 2 of the cold air intake that made installation easier, increased intake piping diameter, and slightly increased filter size. I know a few members were curious about the new product, so I thought I would take some time to review the product for the forums.
This review will note my experience with STETT, detailed pictures of the v.2 kit, comparison of the v.2 kit versus the older kit, update to install process, and finally my conclusions. ...Published on 11-04-2010 02:53 AM
Well, we went, we saw, and the casinos conquered our wallets. SEMA 2010 was great, a car show like no other. From the endless rows of products, to the booth babes, to the sea of people and cars, it is a show that BimmerBoost will be attending again in the future. This was our first time at the show and we did not realize just how big it is. Pictures were taken of everything we found interesting and rather than just show only BMW related pictures or split it all up, the decision was made to show everything together. ...Published on 11-01-2010 10:02 PM
It's hard not to like Sabine Schmitz. It is even harder to not envy her. Who wouldn't like to be paid to drive the Nurburgring all day in a BMW M5? Even better, who wouldn't like to have a girlfriend like that? ...Published on 10-31-2010 11:07 PM
Congrats Boris for smashing the 60-130mph record! ...Published on 10-31-2010 02:30 AM
Great video that is definitely worth taking a look at. We are not surprised by the results, the E92 M3 is a superior performance car to the IS-F. That's right Lexus fanboys, deal with it. The DCT M3 used won the 0-100-0, 60-100, and half-mile events. We have said all along that the DCT M3 is quicker than the IS-F and this comparison confirms it. It was also amusing to see Paul Tracy struggle with trying to figure out how to get launch control to work. Don't worry Paul, been there. ...Published on 10-31-2010 01:32 AM
Check it out, Arkym's full carbon bumper is here. The piece is beautiful and appears to be flawless. You have to look closely to see the weave as the 1 x 1 blends in quite well. The piece is set to debut officially at SEMA but these teaser photos were put up. We do not know the weight or the pricing yet but we will follow up after SEMA. Our main concern is, if this is all one piece, if you crack it, it would seem you are screwed and will need a whole new bumper. Check out the pics! ...Published on 10-30-2010 06:15 PM
Congratulations to BB user MikeWads for raising the bar:
Went out this morning and made a 60-130mph run (Full weight/93 octane). I recently got the ESS DCT software installed and lowered the boost some (for the time being I'm running the 98mm pulley which is around 6psi). I run Borla's full race setup which is catless. My Flip video camera is strapped to the front of the car to give you guys a unique perspective. Enjoy! ...Published on 10-29-2010 11:12 AM
Grand-AM and NASCAR have partnered to make a 12 race DTM championship series happen in 2013 in the United States. For us, this is big news as now we have another racing series other than ALMS to reflect cars that are much closer to their production counterparts. Where else can you see Audi, BMW, and Mercedes sports sedans all go head to head? The interesting part is NASCAR racers may get in on it driving some of the Euro hardware. Cool? We would say, very cool. ...Published on 10-29-2010 02:25 AM
Here we have Simbol Design's Lavazza GTX-R supercar. The car seems to take design cues from everything and throw them together. We don't want to be harsh as the more options the merrier and utilizing a BMW V12 powerplant is very cool. However, the last car to use a BMW V12 set the bar, oh, at the very top of the supercar world. No word on pricing or availability so we would not be surprised if this was yet another pipe dream getting press to look for investors. ...Published on 10-28-2010 09:37 AM
This video gives a quick overview of the M-power museum in Germany. There they have all the production M cars as well as the Motorsport vehicles. If you ever wondered what it would be like to visit, take a look at the video. ...Published on 10-27-2010 01:45 AM
Modding comes in all forms and is not always power centric. We spend a ton of time arguing about engines, turbos, superchargers, and performance. BMW modification does not have to be centered around how much power you put down. Take this E28 for instance belonging to Mike Burrows. The car has been.... umm, transformed to put it mildly. Many people expressed praise for the previous iterations of the vehicle but is this newest version too much? We can tell you this much, it certainly is getting people talking and taking notice. ...Published on 10-26-2010 12:24 PM
European Auto Source recently did an Eisenmann exhaust install on an X6, sharing the pictures and video of the sound:
Here at eas we see several BMWs everyday; most of them being M3s. On Friday, though, we got to see something different come in: a 2010 X6 35i. The owner wanted a more aggressive exhaust look so we recommended Eisenmann’s Performance Race Exhaust. The massive chrome tips nicely fill out the rear end of the X6 while freeing up some of the twin turbo N54 engine’s sound.
This exhaust looks just as good off the car as it does installed. Prior to installation we took some studio shots of this system to really show off it’s beauty. Check out the video to hear the exhaust note. ...Published on 10-25-2010 04:03 PM
Are you saying "Huh?" Because we are. The Rossin-Bertin Vorax is a carbon fiber bodied, $400k, sports car set to be produced in Brazil. It features a 570 hp version of the S85 V10 in naturally aspirated form and supposedly a supercharged 750 hp version (this we have to see). It is supposed to debut Sau Paulo Auto Show this month. Like many of these announced cars, we don't this will ever amount to anything more than the renderings provided. Sourcing S85 motors is also going to be difficult as well. Hey, anything is possible with enough money, we wish them luck. ...Published on 10-25-2010 11:42 AM
The video speaks for itself but we must say we were very surprised with this result. What happened to Quattro?
