By now you know about the BMW " i " sub-brand. Our fears have been that it is going to be all boring front wheel drive "city cars" but the latest i3 model news leaves us some hope. It has been confirmed the model will be an electric mid-engine and rear wheel drive, two very good things for driving dynamics. The batteries are also said to be placed as low as possible for a low center of gravity and the chassis will be lightweight aluminum. The car likely won't show up until 2013 at the earliest, but here is hope that they make some fun to drive electrics. ...Published on 04-07-2011 09:27 PM
As promised in the previous update on the DCT build, we are bringing you details on the cooling system. What you see here is the SSP billet pan and this has been the major hold-up in the completion of the cooling system having undergone multiple designs. What this pan offers is an additional 2 liters of fluid capacity, cooling fins to dissipate heat, additional cooling through an external source, and better access for fluid changes. ...Published on 04-07-2011 05:29 PM
USA Today has revealed a sneak peak of the Mercedes A-Class. If this is in fact the actual design, it is very aggressive and modern for what is an entry level Mercedes. The "Concept A" as this is referred to, will be unveiled at the Shanghai auto show. It features the new turbocharged Mercedes 4 cylinder as well as a dual clutch transmission. It also seems this car will make it to the U.S. and we hope not much changes from this concept. ...Published on 04-07-2011 04:52 PM
Audi has stated it plans to officially debut the new Audi Q3 at the Shanghai auto show in China later this month. They have released their design sketches prior to the debut. We see a lot of Q5 in the design which is to be expected. The Q3 will be riding on the VW Tiguan platform and the 2.0T should be the likely powerplant for it in the United States. No word on a diesel. ...Published on 04-07-2011 01:52 PM
An LS2 corvette is a very, very capable car. Quick in stock form and this example is modified with headers, intake, full exhaust, and putting down 390 whp on a Mustang dyno. The E46 M3 is running a Gintani Stage II SC at 10 psi with meth, it puts down 485 whp. It is making almost 100 whp more than the Vette, but we are a bit surprised is pulls so easily right away. This really wasn't much of a race and shows how strong the E46 M3 can be when boosted. ...Published on 04-06-2011 10:44 PM
German publication AutoZeitung is reporting that Audi intends to take on the Mini Countryman with an entry level Q1. The compact SUV would likely be based on the VW Polo platform which doesn't really make it much of an SUV at all. What is also interesting is that Audi isn't letting a Volkswagon compete with MINI. We worry they are taking the brand too far downscale as well. ...Published on 04-06-2011 06:00 AM
Horsepowerfreaks (HPF) has released pricing and details on their S54 shortblocks. There are 4 options whose full specs are listed below. The first one offers a slight overbore, second is an OEM bock, third is a Darton sleeved underbored used block, and the fourth is a Darton sleeved underbored new OEM block with 1200+ rwhp capacity. Great to see these options from HPF. ...Published on 04-06-2011 04:00 AM
The accessories division of Mercedes-Benz has launched their new wheel collection. The new wheels feature "bichromatic" design of which engineer in charge of development Klaus Frenzel states, "Both the studies by our colleagues at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design studios throughout the world and intensive market research reveal one and the same picture. Bichromatic wheels are becoming ever more popular.” ...Published on 04-05-2011 08:30 PM
Rumors are floating around about a BMW X0 SUV that is to bridge the gap between the Mini Countryman and the X1 which really isn't much of a gap at all and a rather necessary buffer. Rumors are that it will be front wheel drive as well as AWD with 3 cylinder turbo motors as well as possibly the new N20. We don't know what to think other than XO belongs on cognac. ...Published on 04-05-2011 03:58 PM
Prior Design released their 5 series body kit renderings and this time did not use any BimmerBoost inspiration.
We would like to see more real photos of the actual kit but the renderings show how they intend to proceed with the design. The front bumper is E92 M3 inspired and the rear is fairly basic. The fenders look a bit tacky but overall a nice package if the real thing looks this way.

This is a great race to see, BimmerBoost and BenzBoost members DD GT3 RD and DLSJ5 racing their C63 P31 and M3 DCT respectively. The C63 P31 is stock and the DCT M3 has a catless X-pipe and Borla mufflers. The C63 with the P31 package is the decisively faster and for the M3 to win it would definitely take a tune. Check out the video below. ...Published on 04-05-2011 04:00 AM

BMW released more detailed hi-res photos of the new N20 4 cylinder turbo. These give a good look into the size of the turbo, design of the manifold, as well as the cams. They also released a video about their new "Efficient Dynamics" engine family. We are looking forward to seeing how this motor will be tuned and wondering if VALVETRONIC will cause any complications in tuning. ...Published on 04-04-2011 08:41 PM
Audi sites are buzzing with this news which has yet to confirmed. It would seem that Audi has approved the Quattro concept for limited production in 2013. An S5 based on the Quattro underpinnings has been passed around for testing and routinely praised. The car might even get some further weight shaved off it by having the wheelbase shortened. Production seems likely at this point and we hope the production model gets a DSG transmission. Oh, and expect the car to wear the R4 moniker. ...Published on 04-04-2011 02:41 PM
With the first round of pics already circulating the web BMW has now released their official video for the M5 concept. As expected, a well edited short teaser piece. We just can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed in the design of the car. It is so restrained and predictable it hinges on boring. Check out the video and let us know what you think. ...Published on 04-04-2011 01:20 AM
We have been sitting on this story for some time but enough is enough, something has to be said. We can not sit idly by while Evosport continues to take money from our users and not deliver parts. BenzBoost user JRCART is the latest person who Evosport has taken thousands from, in his case under the guise of delivering a Weistec supercharger for his CLK63 black series. We wish we could say he is the only person who has spent considerable money with Evosport only to not get what he paid for, but he isn't. ...Published on 04-03-2011 08:04 PM
A race that we had been waiting to see for some time has finally taken place. MSIZZLE in his full bolt on M6 raced a GTM Stage I twin turbo 370Z. The M6 has dyno'd 510 whp uncorrected and the 370Z has put down 490 whp uncorrected. The cars are pretty close with the 370Z ultimately pulling a couple car-lengths. Check out the video below. ...
